CLASS HISTORY At 9 a. m, on September 5, 1951, the Sullivan Highland School system did something that it had never done before, It brought together in one room, for the first time, the class of 1957. Thirty-four strong, we had finally reached the first plateau of our education, we were now in high school. It didn't take long for us to lose our high and mighty air, for the busy schedule of high school classes didn't permit us much time to spurn our elementary underclassmen. In fact we were a little envious, they had recess. Elaine Hydock joined, and Louise Ferrell left our gang during the year. Our home room teacher was Mr. Wommer. On September 3, 1952, as we started our eighth year, we found that we had some new faces to get used to. Nancy Everitt, Howard Barnes, and Louise Ferrell were in our midst. We also had a new home room teacher, his name was Mr. Yaudes. These additions gave our class 37 members. The next big plateau in our high school career was reached September 9, 1953 when we became, not merely ninth graders, but FRESHMEN, We also became a much larger class, for Arthur Bender, Kenny Fries, Beatrice Nickles, Mary Vanderpool and Theo Young became members: we lost Alfred Fenstermacher, Along with Ken and Theo we gained our home room teacher, Miss Saxer, from the Dushore Public School, which had closed because of a lack of students. Near the end of the term, Arthur Bender, Howard Little, Robert Mench, Mary Va nderpool, and Beatrice Nickles left us, During our Sophomore year, which began September 8, 1954, after being delayed a few days because of a polio scare, our class was somewhat reduced, We lost: David Cox and Nancy Everitt. These losses brought our total down to 34, Mr, Yaudes became our class advisor. Our Junior year started just right for us, as our class rings, which we had ordered the year before, arrived on the first day of school, The first days had been delayed a week to September 12, 1955, because we could not move into the new addition of our building. Around Christmas time we moved into the entire new addition, The biggest highlight of our Junior year was our Junior Prom, held May 4, in honor of the class of 1956. We started working on the decorations necessary for our theme, Disneyland, in November. Our class advisor once again was Mr. Yaudes. Arthur Bender spent most of his junior year with us, but because June Boyer, Gail Eichenlaub, Elaine Hydock, Melvin Fen- stermacher, Audrey Snyder, and Chester Stackhouse left us sometime during the year we had only 29 at the end of the term, We became dignified Seniors September 8, 1956, We had reached the final plateau of high school education. When we gathered for roll call we found that Mr, Yaudes had moved to a school in New Jersey and that we had Mr. Snyder for
