PM In the process of gathering up our belongings, we discovered a diary belonging to Miss Sprout. Being alone in the room at the time, we skimmed over the pages until someone noticed something regarding the C1ass of '54, Miss Sprout had written that she had consulted a fortune teller concerning the future of our class. Here is what the crystal ball holds for the class of 1954. Quote: After a long pause Madame Know-it-all said, 'Miss Sprout, I see a tall, dark man working as head mechanic in Myers' Super Garage on North Mountain. The name on his uniform tells us he's Chester Myers, and there's a blonde stenographer in his office too, the name plate on her desk says Mrs. Yonkin, but her classmates knew her as Marian Houseknecht. Oh, there goes a long, long trailer around the bend: I can see a man driving - the former Shelby Myers must be in the back preparing lunch for Irvin and their two children. A beautiful mansion is being erected - the contractor is Dale Phillips and Sons. He's employed by the former Daisy Little who married a millionaire. l think she met him at a teachers' banquet held in honor of Patsey Reeser, who was named Teacher of the Year. Now, l see Blanche Foust walking down the Main Street of Nordmont. What an unusual hair-do. Up-sweep in the back, and down-sweep in the front. She's owner and operator of the 'Foust Beauty Salon. In Eagles Mere, I see our star reporter of the Eagles Mere Herald Tribune is keeping tabs on the city's pulse by watching the policemen's beat. I can hear a sweet voice saying Number Please - but l can't see anyone - it must be the former Shirley Ferrell she's been working for the Bell for quite a few years now. I guess her husband is making a career of the Air Force and she's living with her in-laws. Oh, there my crystal ball is clearing up again and it's Runette Parkhouse singing at Radio City. In her spare time between singing engagements she's writing a novel, 'How to Hold Your Man. There is Joanne Fyfe in Washington, riding a horse as usual: she's the owner of the World's largest riding academy - there, she stopped to talk to one of her old classmates, Carl Rider. He's driving a taxi cab in which he hauls some of the most prominent senators from their homes to the capitol. I see Ann Taylor is Florence Nightingale of '64, running through the halls of the new Muncy Valley City Hospital carrying her little lamp. After a long gaze into the ball, the fortune teller said, Now I see water, must be the ocean - and there's Anne Krause sailing the brine with the Waves. Wel1, does that take care of everyone in your class, Miss Sprout? No, you missed Wayne Gavitt, she replied. So I did, now let me see! Here he is! Over in Persia. The president has just assigned him as Commander-in-Chief of the Middle East. He seems to have adapted himself to the country's customs very well, already he has a harem consisting of nine wives. Then Miss Sprout thanked Madame Know-it-all and told her she felt much better knowing everything was under control. 61444 Widldfly We began our journey through school in the year 1942. Our first six years were spent enjoying life by means of such exciting games as post office. In the course of these years we participated in five operettas. At the beginning of our seventh year, four new mem- bers joined our class. They were: Wayne Gavitt, Runette Parkhouse, Leah Little and Carl Rider. Other than class parties, our eighth year seemed uneventful. The next year we became full fledged members of the high school. At this time Joamre Fyfe joined our class giving us a total of twenty-four members. Our sophomore year we gained another new member, Patsey Reeser. This year we were entertained by the sophomore boys known as the Carbon Paper Gang, who decorated their faces with carbon to represent mustaches We sponsored several dances and skating parties this year. On one of our class parties, Ann Taylor and Joanne Fyfe were left at Trout Pond when they failed to meet the bus on time. During our Junior year, we were kept quite busy preparing for our Junior Class Play, 'Strictly Formal, and the Junior Prom. Finally we reached our Senior and busiest year. During this year we initiated to the school, the first sock dance. Later in the midst of preparation for our Senior Class Play, 'Maid to Order, Wayne Gavitt had an accident forcing us to postpone the play several months. We are happy to say that Shelby Myers, a member of the Senior Class, was cho- sen May Queen. Her court consisted of the remainder of the Senior girls. Nearer the end of the year we were busy with our speeches for Commencement and the preparation for the big day. As our Senior year comes to a close, our class consists of fifteen mem- bers. elddd 7066! Runette Parkhouse wills her figure to Sandra Laurenson. Shirley Ferrell wills her excuses which keep Mrs. Smith confused to Nancy Cox. Leah Little wills her dancing ability to Kenneth Proof. Ann Taylor wills her handwriting to Mr. Brown. Wayne Gavitt wills his love for the girls to Norman Barnes. Blanche Foust wills her wicked left arm to Mr. Kelly's baseball team. Dale Phillips wills his ability to play ball to Clyde Eichenlaub. Anne Krause wills some of her extra weight to Carol Magargel. Marian Houseknecht wills her ability to get straight A's to William Snyder. Chester Myers wills his quietness to Mr. Yaudes. Joanne Fyfe wills her method of staying out of trouble to Shelby Phillips. Carl Rider wills his crew cut to Mr. Worthington. Daisy Little wills her ability to act to Elaine Smith. Patsey Reeser wills her Ipana smile to Lydia Dunham. Shelby Myers wills her ability to become engaged to Miss Saxer. The Senior Class leaves its Christmas lights and quality of leadership to the Juniors, its ability to cooperate to the Sophomores, its sense of humor to the Freshmen, and its pen- nants to the Athletic Association. cha WF Q3 1 r. l D w- W .' We played a total of 22 games and won 12. We started out by beating the Alumni 56-41, lost to Watsontown 42-45, and squeezed through an exciting 49-47 win over Hughesville. In the next four games we didn't do too well, wimring over Turnpike and losing to Leraysville, East Smithfield and St. Basil's. Our next game was with New Albany, and with it began a seven-game winning streak with victories over New Albany, St. Agnes, Rome, Loyalsock, Watsontown, Central Baptist and Leraysville. The remainder of the season was not too successful, since we won only two, New Albany and Rome, and lost six, Turnpike, East Smithfield, St. Basil's, St. Agnes, Hughesville and Loyalsock. Dale Phillips was our high scorer and was chosen for the A11-Star team. He had a total of 400 points for the season and an average of 18 points per game. It is interesting to note that we won nine of the 11 home games and lost 8 of the 11 away games. COACH FRED KELLY Front row: C. Eberlin, M. Gavitt, J. Edkin, D. Sones, B. Little, R. Heinrich.
