Class Hlstory On the mornmg of September 3 1940 f1ve members of the present 1953 graduat1ng class namely Ardlth Handley Don Hawley Dean Keener Howard McConnell and Frances Thompson stepped for the f1rst tlme xnto a classroom of Sulllvan School to begm twelve happy and eventful school years For our fxrst year we were under the gu1dance of Mrs Shanner Dur1ng our second year of school wh1le st1ll under the guxdance of Mrs Shanner we were jo1ned by Martha Klmngler from Brlghton and Nancy R1ngler from Maple Helghts Our th1rd year 1n school was spent under the d1rect1on of MISS Corp J1m Rlchards from R1dgev1lle and W1lma Grum from Bucksv1lle jo1ned our happy group th1s year Wlth the same teacher 1n the fourth grade we xncreased the number 1n our class agaln by two w1th the arrlval of Loretta Keefer from K1pton and Glenn B1gelow from Homervllle Ou f1fth year we moved to another classroom under the d1rect1on of Mrs McKee Our cla s 1ncreased by three thxs year B111 Lamb from Spencer D1ck Reynolds from Cleveland and JoAnn Goodson from R1chf1eld In our s1xth year w1th Mrs McKee st1ll try1ng hard to teach us somethlng our class 1ncreased by two more members Melvln Hawley from Hudson and John Rlchards from the f1fth grade here at Sulhvan Durxng our seventh year 1n school we really felt b1g We were moved upsta1rs 1nto Jun1or Hlgh School and had a dxfferent teacher for each subject Mr Furness was our homeroom teacher Thls year Glenn Bxgelow left our class In our e1ghth year we had Mr Yant as our adv1sor Th1s year our boys won the county champ1onsh1p for Jun1or Hlgh Basketball Toward the end of the year J1m Patton jo1ned our ranks from F1tchv1lle In our Freshman year we felt l1ke the underdogs be1ng the lowest class 1n the hlgh school Our class ranks were swelled by Janet Twmxng Sonja Larson and Forest RICE from Huntlngton and Ken Pau11 from Lakev1lle MISS Green acted as our adv1sor dur1ng the year The next year be1ng our Sophomore year we ventured out 1nto the buslness world and sponsored a H1llb1lly Show wh1ch brought 1n the Sheckles Th1s was the year Donna Paull jo1ned us from Lakev1lle and Mr K1lchenman acted as our adv1sor In our Jun1or year we lost three members of our class Ken Pauh Melvln Hawley and Sonja Larson however we st1ll had enough members to put on our Junlor Play Your Only Young Once Glenn Blgelow rejouxed our Cla and was on hand when we played host to the Semor Clas for the Annual Jun1or Semor Prom held at the Palladeum 1n Elyr1a Mr Wolford had been our adv1sor that year Our last year 1n Sulllvan found us w1th a class of runeteen members Janet Tw1n1ng and B111 Lamb w1thdraw1ng from school and J1m Markwood jo1n1ng us from New London and Edlth Roll1n from tl un1or Class here at Sulhvan Th1s year we presented The Boardlng House Reach by Donald Payton under the d1rect1on of Mr Larabee who also acted as our adv1sor We had the task of ed1t1ng the yearbook wh1ch we named The P1lot Class Poem Our class 15 mneteen 1n number How we reached our goal we somet1mes wonder But reached our goal we have at last Now we mntroduce our members as they pass O 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 . . 1 - 1 . 1 V . . . . . , , 1 . , . , . . . . . . 1 0 J l - 1 1 1 . . . .
