Each view has been seen and will be seen again. The window that the Freshman sees is clouded Vlith a hlin that blocks his View And only dinily hints at the glow to bel A hlin to be cleared by time and knowledge. A sinall peep-hole, cleared by the Sophomore. Presents a tiny bit of school life- The inusic, art, sports, languages and temperature, The choirs. teains, clubs and staffs Hitting quickly by. A Junior clears the hlin lroin every corner. Now a part ol' the flowing streain of school life, And thinking of inany things at once, He knows the Present seen through the glass. The Seniors window to the world is wide And its glass is colored and patterned By knowledge of the Past, learning of the Present, And the hopes and dreams of the Future. But he does not sit behind his window Or View his world bound by narrow franiesg He throws open his window oi' the Present To stand in the light of the Future. 4 f ,A LQ,-3x ,Rigid 1 am ' f .-.m.'mLM...,.,.m,.N , ...ummuy V ,wg xQ,,f,,- .U ,wig fu fm W ff . af-9 A gffgfgf f ,WH 6 M jf? fjwf, WV 5 J , . The business, secretarial, and accounting stalls keep the records ol' yearly sales, type written matter, and organize the material belore sending it to the printer. The writers and copy readers provide the various writ- ten material seen throughout the book, and they correct and improve upon it lor publication. The art department provides publicity posters and the lree-hand drawings which are scattered throughout the book, and they check it for errors before publication. The biographies and senior write-up committee compose a suit- able quotation for each graduate and a list of his accomplishments at school. Antong the many projects taken up this year by the council are the orchestration ol' our school song, the purchasing ol' a school llag and our motto. The Council also supervises the Variety Show and the selling ol' Sullivan pep buttons for football games. A representative from each division and his alternate make up the main body ol the Coun- cil. Heading the divisions ol' every year is an elected student, called the Class Counselor. YVhen a representative complained of the noise in her division which made it dilslieult for her to give the council report. Under the direction of their new sponsor, Mr. john Fritschie, relatively untrained niusical talent of these girls is brought out and refined. It is difficult for anyone who hears our Girls' Choir for the first time to believe that group of girls as large as this has been trained to sing with such professional inanner. The selections of the choir, which include anything and everything, ranging from Christnias Carols to popular Broadway show tunes, are enjoyable to all. Singing beautifully at several school functions each year, as well as their tradi- tional Christnias caroling through the halls, our choir may well be proud of themselves. XVith such men as QB, Roseng Backs, Sanford, Silverman and Jacobson, Line Men, Rudnick, Spitzer, Nathan, Zells, Natelsky, and Segal, we thought our chances were very good. The Cats staggered, but did not fall. Every man played his heart out even though we were never victorious. Three heartbreaking games won by Senn 12-7, Roosevelt 20-19, and Wlells l2-6 contributed to the Catls lrustation. The other games won by Lakeview 39-0, Foreman 25-O, could haxe gone either way during the Iirst half, but were won on second half success. Even though the Cats had a discouraging season, the outlook for the next year is bright. Many first stringers will return next year with the experience needed to become better ball- players. Second season men will be: Jacobson, Sanford, Fieldman, and Guan, four of the starting '57 team. Combined with the newcomers and the substitutes of this year the Tigers should really go in the '58 season. 106 Q l ! n i i I i K r 3 le?
