Carnegie. l0l coach margolis nineteen hundred forty-eight loolcs lilce a good year lor the senior cindermen, coach margolis has Finally produced a team that has the depth, balance and versatility that its predecessors have laclced. coupling a number ol inherited junior standouts with a group ol veterans, the seniors should go For this year. last year, a green junior team surprised every- one but themselves by garnering third place in the city indoor meet, and second in the outdoor meet. coach margolis developed ronnie gray, a freshman, into one of the Finest junior sprinters in the city. talcing two seconds and a third, Hrapid ronnie scored eleven points in city, to pace the team to second place. he was 'ichased ini' by ron polcres and bryan billington, who toolc lilths in the hundred and two hundred twenty. the other junior star was fred wieshar, who placed in city in the high and low hurdles, and climaxed this performance by setting a new junior high-jump record for chicago. HDI trcicla the seniors were less fortunate, charles nico- demus registering their only point in city with a Fifth in the mile. but the squad gained needed experience which could carry them to the top this year. the seniors inherit billington and polcres lor the springs, and wieshar for the hurdles and highjump. these boys should provide the scoring punch which the team has laclced. among the returning seniors are: marv greenspon and charles nicodemus, two ol the best milers in the city, jaclc gallow, four-hundred-lorty man, and don crost, polevaulter. the juniors, despite their losses to the seniors, are still formidable. gray is returning lor the hurdles and broadjump, and is certain to win the city dash titles. the juniors also have two exceD- tional six-hundred-sixty men, ronnie Friedman and sheldon staulitz. can they but develop their promising relay team, the juniors are well on their way to another banner year.
