The sixty-piece Sullivan High School Band is one of the finest assets of the school, providing music and entertain- ment during the football and basketball N' seasons and numerous fine programs from time to time during the course of school events. Each year various members of the group compete in the district and state solo and ensemble contests and invar- iably do an excellent job of representing our school. The County Music Festival and the Spring Concert are highlights for music lovers in the community, but to the mem- bers of the band the annual concert tour, which this year took them to St. Louis, is outstanding, The band's versatility is demonstrated by its extensive repertoire, but nothing --nothing, that is--made such a hit this year as its swing and jive versions of popular numbers. All basketball fans re- call the band's version of Shake, Rattle and Roll. Maestro Perigo directs. Band officers were Tom Campbell, presidentg Bev Taylor, vice-presi- dent: Sue Wolfe, secre- tary: and Susan Smith, treasurer. Why, the Chorus, of course ..... so say its members. Certainly its size would in- dicate its great popularity. The group takes part in many activities, but if the outstand- ing one were to be chosen, the Minstrel would take honors. liach year it becomes a better production, and this year was no excep- tion--so much better, in fact, that it became a road show, However, other events take a proniinent place in the group's activities--the Christmas Cantata, the County Music Festival, the Spring Concert, and special appearances at Baccalaureate, Rotary Honor Flight and Commencement, This year a group of the choristers appeared on television for a Christmas perform- ance. These achievernents were due in most part to the ingenuity and talent ofthe choral director of Sullivan High School, Mr. Harry Jarrett, who is shown at the left receiving just a small portion of his just reward in the form of a gift from the min- strel cast. 4041? velfgv TI-IE SPRING MUSIC FESTIVAL at I- 0 4 on 5 sv. 4F48 F A A l, ' P nt I8 1 finds the chorus and the band join- ' a 'A h A X ing forces to present a musical treat P . . 6' A' A n 'Wm The girls' chorus, the boys'cl1orus, ff q l anti the-combine'd choruses lend their L I I r 0 , n 'Q ,Q N voices 1D a glorious festixal of song. .ff -1, f nfl n 3 rewjffw-r fin , Q Q f1 Fx n .A s we , Q Fx!!!-ll iq? z4cL'wcz'ce4 tl .gf e X111 trtl da ers out with tw B xtx IOII 1 '5 up tlmc' Nic emit tcm are trausftrmcd Nl15t.1l1To 1 1 duces a new act wltn the skill ofa FOJL' year vctcrin Jll'31Il Jewell Ambrose am rrer swap All storie WV 'N Choral Director and Mrs Jarrett find time for relixauon -M' .
