The 1953-1954 Golden Arrows boasted a winning season under the tutelage of their new coach, Woddy McBride. A record of fourteen wins and nine losses, including the Wabash Valley and sectional tourneys, was posted by the Purple and Gold. An unusual feature of the season was the fact that the McBridemen engaged in five overtime contests, winning three and losing two but dropping the one that Arrow fans most wanted them to capture-- the final game of the sectional tourney. Five seniors--Gary Vandergriff, Jaclc Mayfield, Jim Harris, Mort Grayam, and Jaclc Hunt--brought an end to their cage careers, leaving a nucleus of five remaining lettermen and c promising B-squad to carry on. m 1HE 1953-1954 RECORD N Arrows 41 Bicknell 36 Arrows 39 Hutsonville 37 fovertime Princeton 59 Arrows 48 Arrows 52 Brazil 46 fovertime Arrows 41 Clinton 36 Qovertime Vincennes 71 Arrows 30 Garfield 56 Arrows 41 Arrows 47 Dugger 40 Linton 66 Arrows 61 State 58 Arrows 51 Arrows 46 Greencastle 45 Wiley 36 Arrows 34 fovertime WABASH VALLEY TOURNEY Arrows 47 Dugger 41 Carlisle 48 Arrows 47 Gerstmeyer 35 Arrows 29 Arrows 51 Spencer 44 Arrows 51 Bloomfield 29 Arrows 53 Washington 46 Arrows 56 Jasonville 41 SECTIONAL TOURNEY Arrows 57 Graysvi lle 47 Arrows 64 Hymera 39 Arrows 51 Pleosantville 40 Farmersburg 57 Arrows 55 fovertime1 Cary Vandergrzff Senior X Jnm Harrrs Senxor Tom Campbell Junnor J Mor?
