In thus March of Progress whuch the senuors of V939 have made down the road of Sulluvan Hugh School they have encountered many guudeposts whuch were put there for the purpose of elum unatlng detours ln theur furst lap they stopped at the sugn marked Englush Here Muss Egbert corrected some of theur aunts and un short started them off on the rught foot Muss Egbert could recute poetry well They also ran agaunst a sugn marked Cutuzenshup Mr Wey He created a sensatuon when he dudn t make hus appearance untul the second day Mr Wey us very fond of football he lukes to coach and he also lukes to play At the sugn of Mathematucs namely Algebra many of the students were somewhat puzzled but Muss San ders soon straughtened them out Muss Sanders knows mathematucs from a to z She also knows gurls for she us the dean At the sugn of the amoeba and paramecuum they met Muss Maple She made the buology of plants and anumals unterestung Well they remember those fueld trups' Muss Maple us now teachung health and safety She us a very busy person but she enuoys ut Mr Plew now fulls her place un the buology laboratory P Mr Plew us the quuet type that bears acquauntance The Englush teacher on the second lap Muss Edna Calvert has left sopho more Englush un the hands of Muss Pound Muss Pound was a favorute of the students un uunuor hugh school days She sungs un her spare tume Mr Kelly udol of all aspurung young football play ers and teacher of general hustory gave the senuors a boost on theur march He has put Sulluvan Hugh School on the basketball Mr Melbourne always gets the rught angle on thnngs Geometry was a rught large bump along the road Mr Melbourne us Sulluvan s star track man He and hus boys have glorufued S H S on the track To Mr Sullender the senuors owe theur knowledge of an cuent and modern Rome He knows all about musuc as well as Caesar and Cuc ero He us also chuef tucket seller at football and basketball games Chuef dressmaker un the ranks us Muss Forbes She supervuses the cafeterua and teaches home economucs health house plannung and home nursung ln her spare tume she co sponsors the Boosters Club wuth Muss Maple was new to us, as we were new to hirnu football map. ln the third lap the students were more or less on their own They had to decide which road to take Miss Shields introduced them to American litera ture Remember Longfellow and the ballad of jesse james? Miss Shields is also Saga adviser M Lockridge teaches United States history He is also a wizard at mathematics He is co sponsor of the Hi Y club To those tu ture private secretaries MisS Wright and Miss Byers teach the art of type writing Miss Wright conducts classes in bookkeeping and shorthand She Byers a new addition to our ranks also teaches biology Every boy feels a bit ot pride at the sight of work of his own hands Here s where Mr Martin comes in He teaches industrial arts In be tween times he helps raise a family of football and basketball players In their short lap the students have enjoyed English literature and speech with Miss Brown Miss Brown has been an aid to those who have tried their luck at ora tory She also conducts all the plays lf you wish to know how to figure your income tax go to Mr Laughlin He has straightened the seniors out on matters of United States government Mr Laughlin is chief of financial af tairs around Sullivan High School and also co sponsors Hi Y He has a fine family of four children For chemistry and physics they went to Mr Robison He also teaches mathematics He s the teams faculty manager and general tix up man ln the evenings he in structs his young son ln the physical education department Miss Bland and Mr Sering rule Miss Bland tries her luck at rhymes instructs two drum and bugle corps and conducts the Archery Club in her spare time Mr Sering s new and he also likes basketball To the music minded Miss Cox and Mr Gharst have given encouragement Miss Cox conducts the Glee Club On the side she composes songs and is mistress of the ivories Our bandleader Mr Gharst between his classes clinics contests concerts etc helps rear two girls and goes to the movies Last but by no means least Mrs Barco librarian keeps the library in shape and checks daily attendance Mrs Barco likes to knit and has made some very lovely suits She and Miss Sanders are advisers for Blue Tri and Silver Tri A .
