SENIOR LIFE An event of world unterest un IQ34 was the burth of the Duonne Ouuntuplets but more umportant to the one hundred suxty members of the Class of l938 was the fact that they entered Sulluvan Hugh School That year be tween algebra tests and buology fueld trups thus group found tume to sponsor the show Seguoua Part of the proceeds were used to purchase a raduo for the school Thus freshman class also founded the Hobbues Club as an extra currucular prouect Thus club has grown untul ut now uncludes stamp collectors amateur photographers autograph collectors and all other students who have hobbues The chuef truals of the sophomore year were geometry and Latun However un spute of a few casualtues the class gauned dustunctuon by beung represented un the state Latun contest by Hester Graham who placed seventh and by Mulburn Weur who ranked thurd un the state geometry contest As uunuors one hundred twenty one members were busy sellung tuckets for Murdock the Magucuan Although thus was hard work the uunuor senuor receptuon was ample reward Several band members have won band contests Porter Dux rubbons un the stwte ranked second un the state wuth hus Cornet solo Allen Markee achueved the same place ment by playung hus flute lchn Wayne Budd'e brought back a blue rubbon for hus m lloplnone solo Thes students became senuors Wuth thus tutle came pruvuleges and dutues not guven to underclassmen Much to the envy of the other students they were often called from classes or from an exceed ngly dull assembly peruod lwhen they should have been studyung for that govern ment examl to b untervuewed by college pres dents Thus year for the furst turne Sulluvan entered the Frank lun College Speech Contest Wuth her dramatuc re dung Mary Lucas partucupated un the f nals But senuor lufe was by no means all serucusness and work Forunstance there was the senuor play Clarence and then there was the hugh spot un the so ual calendar of the year the prom Donnung theur caps and gowns for the baccalaureate 1nd commencement exercuses gave an aur of funaluty and the furst dugnuty notuceable un the s nuors durung the year The senuors have furnushed leadershup un school org n uzwtuons durung theur last year Although ut us probable that others can full these vacancues the Class of IQ38 has left nts mark IK I Il III L 1 T - 11 . 11 I . 1 1 1 1 ' 1 1 1 1 1 , .
