Then half-time finally arrived with the band presenting a superb performance and the moment came we all had been waiting for. All the candidates came out on the field while everyone watched anxiously. Sophomore representatives were Babette Cox escorted by Scott Winchell, Janet Dishner escorted by Tim Jenkins, and Cindy Miller escorted by Steve Bel- lamy. The winner was Janet Dishner. Juniors were Sandy Nelson escorted by Danny Peters, Yvette Owens escorted by Dan Green, and Laura Demo escorted by Jimmy Bentley. The winner was Sandy Nelson. The band played a fanfare and over the loud speaker came a voice , And the 1975 Homecoming Queen is Robin For- rester . ' ' 123 Homecoming ’75 proved to be one of the best ever. Having almost everyone participating in the activities was really impres- sive . The whole week held a tre- memdous response from the Patriots. 4 mr h! t ' 3 i 1 Amid the lights, excitement, and nervousness , eighteen girls endured the evening of the Miss Patriot Pageant. After an open- ing number, modeling sport- swear, and sweating it out, nine girls were chosen as semi-final- ists. The girls performed their talent and competed in evening gowns. Elizabeth Jennings was named Miss Patriot 1975.” Her talent was an impersonation of the character, ’’Edith Ann,” portrayed by Lily Tomlin . Miss Patriot Pageant 1975 126 The nine semi-finalists. Teaching us about magic, nuclear fission, singing to us, or simply just talk- ing to us, these visitors are somewhat special people that add color and life to our daily routine . 137 Vandalism Vandalism this year seems to have taken its toll on East High School. 138 I Leaks The leaks this year, even though they were supposedly taken care of in the spring of ' 75, reoccur- red, bringing back buckets and trash cans . 139 Rings ... a major event in every junior’s life. The entries included projects from the fields of biology, chemistry, engineering, and mathematics. Those winning awards included: Artie Roberts, for his work with a Brushless D.C. Motor, won 3rd Place in Physics in 1975; Mike Dingus, for his work with a model of the X-3 Rocket Car, has been very successful in past science fairs, including 2nd Place in Physics (Jun- ior High) in 1973, 1st Place in Physics and 2nd Place over all in 1975; and George Meredith received recognition from the American Lung Association for his work with the Effects of Smoking. Class of ’78 Being a sophomore has meant making new friends, renewing old friendships, creating first impressions, and sharing new ideas and experiences. Being a sophomore is being afraid to raise your hand in a class full of juniors and seniors - even when you have to go to the bath- room. Sophomores are old enough to know , but too young to try . . . Sophomores are persons you could easily pick out of a crowd by the way he acts and talks . . . Sophomores are the ones who sit and talk about their love life to anyone and everyone . . . They also have a different boyfriend every week . . . A sophomore is someone who tries to act older than everyone else, and ends up acting more immature than before. A sopho- more is someone who writes his locker number and combination on all his books, then remembers the books are inside the locker. 152 Kim Adams James Alexander Rebecca Allison Wayne Anderson Lisa Andrews Tony Arnold Dean Baird Tina Bagwell Susan Ball Kent Barker Nancy Barnes Diane Barrett Ben Beach Doris Beeler Steve Bellamy Steve Bellamy Rhonda Berkley Steve Bickings Ed Bishop Timmy Bishop Vicki Bishop Cohnie Black Rhonie Black Frank Blackstop Guy Blaylock Rima Bolling Ginger Booher Tommy Booher Richard Boone Steve Bouziden 153 Denise Boyd Jeff Boyd Matt Boyer Woody Boyer Michelle Bradley Van Brewer Pattie Brooks Melody Brown Mike Brown Teresa Brown Jeanette Bryant John Bushong Peggy Burbank David Burnette Elaine Campbell Ricky Campbell Kim Canter Pam Cardwell David Carper Chris Canier Cindy Carrier Janet Carrier Joyce Carrier Teresa Carroll Tami Carter Tim Carry Terry Carver Becky Cash Pam Caywood Mark Chaffin 154 Leigh Chambers Donna Clark Ricky Combow Lewis Combs William Conley Theresse Cowan Babette Cox Curtis Cox Anita Cross Mary Crouse Wanda Crouse James Crowe Barbara Crumley Robert Cmsenberry Sonya Cumbow Glenna Cullop Jeff Curtis Vickie Denton Diane Dishner Janet Dishner Jeff Dishner Irene Dollar Kim Donaldson Mike Dotson Jeff Draper Roger Draper Lynn Dugger Cindy Duncan Bill Eaton Renaye Edwards 155 Mike Elam B ill Elliot Terry Ervin Teresa Fadial Susan Felty Patty Fleenor Jeff Fern Angie Ford Scott Foster Betty Fritzs Jackie Frye Sherry Galloway David Gentry Jimmy Gentry Mike Gilmore Gregory Glover Wanda Glover Donna Goodman Leigh Graham Bobby Greear Billy Joe Gregg Bobby Griffith 156 Phil Grizzel Jerry Gross Teresa Grubb Timmy Guinn Angela Gurley Gary Hager Sheila Hagerman Linda Hamilton Barry Hampton Phyllis Hammons Mark Hannah Tony Harkins Tadd Harmon Randy Harper Jeff Harrington Rickie Harris Ban Henley Charles Hinkle Pam Hobbs Vernon C. year we had the opportunity to establish the tra- ditions which came to be known as those of the second graduat- ing class. In this our junior year we have seemed somewhat organized, unlike our sophomore year. We have won most of the major battles within ourselves and have gained from both defeats and victories. Yes, there are many things to be grateful for in our few passing years. Missing our old friends is not yet behind us as we have one more year to share and to grow even closer than before. Together we must carry on where the senior class has left off. What was once their responsibility will soon be ours. We the Class of ' 77 must step for- ward as one and accept the responsibility as it is given to us, with great pride . 175 176 177 Class of 76 RICKY ADAMS DORIS AKARD RODNEY ALEXANDER DIANE ALFORD BEVERLY ANDERSON DEBBIE ANDERSON KATHY ANDERSON LORA ANDERSON TAMMY ARNOLD MICKEY ATKINS PAM BAINES DWAYNE BAIRD 178 FRAN BAKER JOE BELL KENNY BEVERLY Class of 76 JAMES BAXTER JOHN BARNES MIKE BARRY MIKE BELLAMY JIM BENTLEY CINDY BISHOP DENISE BLACKWELDER MIKE BERRY LINDSEY BLEVINS 79 SUSAN BOND DEBBIE BOONE RANDY BOONE PEGGY BOUGHERS KATHY BOWERS LISA BREWER RONNIE BROOKMAN TONYA BRUNSON TERESA BUCKLES JANE BULLOCK JANICE BURNETTE ROBIN BURTON 180 BARBARA BUSH CATHY CARMACK DAVID CARR DANNY CARRIER ELIZABETH CARRIER GREG CARRIER PATTY CARRIER GINA COLLINS DONNA CONNER DEBBIE COX PHIL COX SONNY COX 181 TIM COX BECKY CROSS CONNIE CROSS SAMMY CROSS CINDY CRUMLEY IRIS CUNNINGHAM JAY CURTIS LINDA CURTIS JACK DAVIDSON ANGIE DAVIS JUDY DAVIS WAYNE DEPEW 182 GAIL DePRIEST MIKE DINGUS MELISSA DISHNER GAYLA DOWDY JOHN DRAPER SHERRY DRAPER JEFF FADES MIKE EAKER KATHY EBERLE SARA ELSEA LARRY EMMERY LARRY FARRIS 183 PAULA FREEMAN ROBBY GILLION CRAIG GOODMAN GREG GOODMAN DARLENE FILLERS TIM FOX SHERRY FLEENOR DONNA FRALEY ROBIN FORRESTER JUDY FREELAND STEVEN FLOYD DEBBI FRANCISCO 184 DENISE GRAYBEAL JEAN GRATZ VICKY GROSS ELMER GROVES VICKY HALE GWEN HALL DONNA HARLESS SHARON HARLOW PATTI HARPER TRUDY HENDRICKS SANDY HENSLEY DALE HERON 185 BECKY HICKS CINDY HICKS BILL HIGHTOWER KATHY HINKLE DEBBIE HODGES SUSAN HOLBROOK BRENDA HOLLOWAY PENNY HOLT STEVE HONAKER JANET HOPKINS ROY HOPKINS KATHY HUDSON 186 DEAN HUGHES DEBBIE HURD CLIFF HUTTON SUE HYDER JAMES HYLER ALICE JACKSON RICKY JACKSON ELIZABETH JENNINGS DEAN JOHNSON LISA JOHNSON NANCY JONES 187 PETE JONES STEVE KAYLOR STEVE KING TAMMY KISER JOY KITE ROBIN LADY CHRIS LANE REGINA LEONARD LAURIE LILLEY DORIS LILLY KAREN LINDAMOOD VICKY LINDAMOOD 188 MIKE LITTLEFORD PAM LOCKNER VIVIAN LOCKNER TERESA LOUTHEN CINDY LOWE RONNIE LYONS LAURA MADISON TERESA MAIDEN CURTIS MALONE SPRING MALONE KATHY MANGUM KELLEY MARSH 189 BRYAN MASON FRANK MASON MARK McCORD GEORGE MEREDITH GARRY MILHORN MARK MILHORN VICCI MORETZ ANITA MORRELL BILL MORRELL DANNY MORRELL DAVID MORRELL MIKE MORRELL 190 TERESA MORRELL TONY MORRELL BRUCE MORTON TIM MORTON WENDY OTTINGER ROBERT OWENS MISSY PALIN DONNY PATRICK JESSIE PATRICK BARBARA PARKALO JENNIFER PARSONS DANNY PETERS PAT POE TERRY PRICE PENNY PRINCE DENNY RAMSEY KENNY RHYMER DAVID RICE DEAN RICE LOIS RICE 192 DORIS RICHARDS WILLIAM RICHARDSON RICK RIDDLE ARTIE ROBERTS PAULA ROBINETTE BECKY ROSE lANIE ROSE EVA ROSENBAUM SUSAN RUST RICK RUTTER JOYCE RYAN SUSIE SCALP 193 DARLENE SCOTT PAM SCOTT SHARON SELLS LINDA SHIPLEY DORIS SIMCOX DEAN SIMERLY JACKIE SIMONS BRENDA SMITH DARRIS SMITH JANET SMITH JEFF SMITH CAROLYN SMITHSON 194 TIM SMITHSON ALAN SPENCER PHILIP STANLEY KIM STEWART JOE STITT DANNY STOPHEL BARBARA SWANNER VALERIE SWINEY DAVID TESTER WAYNE TESTER MARY ANN THOMAS JEFF THOMPSON 195 Class of ’76 KEITH THOMPSON MARK TRINKLE VICKY TRIVETT KAREN TROXEL RICKY VANCE CLAUDIA VENABLE KATHY WEAVER MARVIN WEBB GHANDI WHITE TIM WHITE CINDY WIDENER JULIE WILLIAMS 196 Class of 76 NORMA WILLIAMS PAUL WILLIAMS DANNY WILSON MARK WILSON TEDDY WISE BECKY WOLFE LISA WOLFE DAVID WOODBY JUDY WORLEY KATHY WORLEY FAYE YOUNG KAYE YOUNG AKARD, DORIS ANN Big Buddy Science and Bible Clubs ALEXANDER. State St. Bristol, Va. (703) 669-2742 255 We are a little happy and a little sad as we leave East High School. We will miss our friends , our schooling and our youth . We are happy as we are now educated , prepared and anxious to start a new life . As we look at our three years at EHS in retrospect, we can appreciate the teachers and opportunities that have helped to make us what we are. We know that there will be no other experience that will ever compare to our life as high school students. The class of 1976 anticipates a life that is a progression toward self realization and fulfill- ment. In our busy lives, we rarely stop to thank all those who have made the 1976 PATRIOT possi- ble . We would like to express our thanks to the administration , faculty , and student body , Their cooperation and patience has helped to make this annual possible . We would also like to thank our patrons for their support. Finally, we especially want to express our sincere gratitude to Mrs. Forbes, who has spent many long hours with us to make our yearbook a reality. f For Reference Not to be taken from this room
