Das Jficjfi Dedicated On November 17, 1968, East High School was officially dedicated as an institution of learning. Mr. J. Craft Akard, Superintendent of Sullivan County Schools, presided over the ceremony and festivities of the afternoon. We were honored with the presence of Mr. Frank Erwin, Director of the University of Tennessee School of Planning Laboratory, who brought us greetings from the Tennessee State Department of Education. Mr. M. Nat Barnes, Chairman of the Board of Education, introduced Dr. D. P. Culp, Pres- ident of East Tennessee State University, who was the honored speaker. Charles Boling, President of the Student Body of East High School, accepted the building. Through such dedicated efforts may we continue to grow and prosper for years to come. 5
