Whenever a tradition is begun those who determine its makeup have the kind of responsibility which causes them to spend much of their time in work which is unproductive. Almost every decision was a crisis because ours was the first senior class of the Sullivan County High School, and we did not have time to know each other before having to choose most of the things which went into pro- ducing this first HIGHLANDER. The journey from an idea to final publication was often stormyg once or twice we nearly capsized. However, the troubles were far outweighed by the challenges which every new venture brings. Our basic consideration in publishing this annual has been that it will be used as a model for those which will follow lt. We have tried to reflect our school and to set standards of dignity and good taste. We regret any failures, know- ing that these will ever rest heavily upon us. But most of all we are proud that ours will always be the first HIGHLANDER published by the Sullivan County High School. We thank all who have helped us and leave our very best wishes to our suc- cessors. 2 There is nothing more difficult to take in hand, more perilous to conduct, or more uncertain in its success, than to take the lead in the introduction of a new order of things, We are proud to dedicate our yearbook to the people whose names appear on this page. Their courage, their wisdom, and their foresight are monuments that will not crumble. I 3 Alma Maier Sweet be thy memory, S.C. H. S., Fair be thy destiny, forever blestg Hearts that have loved thee will ever remain True to thy standards and proud of thy name. Our Alma Mater dear, to thee we singg May all thy future years new honors bringg May friends thy banners raise, thy foes grow All love and praise to thee - S.C. H.
