Nuttiest Day of the Year Versatile Grady Nutt, a professional humorist by occupation, a Baptist minister by ordination, a writer by vocation, appeared before a Sul Ross audience, Friday, Sept. 20, 1974. Grady plays a dozen different instruments, juggles, sings, lectures, and performs before groups all over the U. S. But most of all, Grady is known for his own unique brand of wit and wisdom, as he rapidly builds a nationwide reputation as a downhome, believable performer with an ability to extract humor from life around us. To some he is “the Will Rogers of today.” 24

Blue Knights in Action The Blue Knights Drill Team of the 849th Air Force ROTC Detachment winged its way to success here at Sul Ross. Several times during the year the group presented performances consisting of precision marching and close order drill. Many hours of individ¬ ual and team practice was spent in preparation for these performances. The drill team staged a performance at the second Alpine Air Tours that was sponsored by the Arnold Air Society. They also performed at the halftime activities during the Sul Ross and San Marcos game. During the spring semester the group represented the university in the College Drill Team Competition at Laredo. F 23

Classical Guitarist Strums up Entertainment Alfred Street, classical guitarist, performed Nov. 5, 1974, at the Sul Ross Main Auditorium. Street is a native of southern France and studied music at the Conservatoire de Nice. He has given concerts at universities and colleges in more than 30 states including Hawaii and has performed on radio and television as well. Street’s concerts have been met with extraordinary success among young audiences. Some of his repertoire included: “En Los Trigales, “Five Lute Pieces of the Italian Renaissance,” and “Two Preludes” by J. S. Bach. 25
