After these victories something went wrong and the Lobos suffered three straight defeats, but showed that they had not given up by taking Texas Lutheran. During the last four games, the story of our team did not brighten any; they did show Lamar Tech a few things, however. It ' s true, the won-and-lost column of the Lobos is not too hot, but there are other things to consider when judging a team as good or bad, and we who have seen them play know that these things are not absent from the Lobo team. Junior from Post, was the Sul Ross representative on the Lone Star All-Conference team and an honorable mention for the Little All-America team for 1954. His 1,255 yards gained in rushing made a shambles of the Lone Star Conference offense contest. To this mighty mark he added 89 yards for passes, bringing the total yardage gained to 1,344. This made him high man on the football totem pole for the nation ' s small colleges.
