Grapplers Second In Tourney Lee Pickeral and Richard Ferguson emerged from the Washington Metropolitan Wfrestling Tournament as champions. Suitland set some school records in the Tournament: 1. second place was the first time in the Tournament SHS finished in this position. 2. Tl points is the most points weive scored in the Tournament. 3. two metropolitan champions in the same year is a record. The two champions this year doubled SHS cham- pions of previous years. It was a comparatively good season with a SHS SCOREBOARD OPP. 39 Gaithersburg 8 45 Wheaton 0 6 Vtvashington-Lee 37 39 Walter Johnson 6 24 Episcopal 15 26 Annapolis 19 35 Montgomery Blair 8 14 Wakefield 24 16 Northwestern 23 second in Tournament. 182 6-3 won-lost record and bringing home a second place trophy from the tournament. Pickeral and Larry Morris finished the regular season with 8-1 records. Mike Dove, Cert Burger, John! Littleford. Martin Palmer. Cary Tiddy placed third in the tournament. while Littleford came in fourth. The season had many highlights such as Pickeral pinning John Hamilton of Northwestern in the first period. A 45-0 rout of Wheaton. Nlr. Turner has ten of his eleven varsity men graduating. Next year he must fill many vacancies in order of having another winning season. Mr. Turner and his assistant Mr. llon McNelis deserve a lot of credit for putting together a winning team and developing two champions.
