Tim Bailer and Bill Spalding hold a hot debate while members of the Debate Club look on. Debafors H arangue Promoting the ability to debate and speak before a group is the primary purpose of the Debate Club. Sponsored by Mr. Regan, the club met weekly to dis- play their forensic talent on current topics. Weekly meetings only served as practice debates, as the real competition came with other schools. The orators were lead by Tim Bailer, president, Renee Thomas, vice president, Fransine Hotchkiss, secretary, Frank Chang, treasurer, and George Kelso, sergeant at arms. Thespians Enacf Many Plays ! Mr. Larlce advises the small but efficient group of Drama Club students. Top honors in the Maryland State Drama Festival were the highlights of the year's activities. Suitland's entry was the recognition scene in Anastasia,' and members of the cast were Ruth Mintz, Janet Krafter and Jeff Warren. This play was one of the many opportunities offered 1 to the students participating in dramatic activities. The club was sponsored by Mr. Larke. The oflicers were Sid Knoch, president, Sandy Doolittle, vice presi- dent, Betsy Bedient, secretary, Ernie Messina, treasurer, Amy Osbourne, assistant treasurer, Tom McMurray, sergeant at arms, and Grace McDermott, publicity.
