Sfudenfs Gain Skills And Pleasure ln Games Pleasure and skill are the aims of lmoth the Archery Clulu and the Chess Cluh which are sponsored hy Nlr. Charles Kilborne. The Archery Club is designed to promote interest in archery and to teach the essentials of target shoot- ing. During the spring and fall months. tournaments were held to determine archery Champions. OHiCers of the club are Sandy Castle. president: Fulton Mar- shall. vice-president: Gene Hinkle. secretary: and Duane Joseph. treasurer. The purpose of the Chess Club is to stimulate inter- est in Chess and to provide a free time activity. Throughout the year the Club holds tournaments with other high schools to determine champions. The Library Club members handle all the work of run- ning: the school library. Siudenis Perform Exfra Service To School The Library Club seeks to promote the interests and ideals of the school library in order that the librarians may render their best service to their fellow-students and to their faculty. The Library Club. under the direction of Miss Billard. has performed a vital service to the school working to make the library a valuable aid for the 1.300 students vs ho have used it. The oflicers are. Gloria Perry, presi- dent: Louise Mitchell. vice president: Virginia Schmidt. secretary: Nlelissa Sinatra. treasurer: and Dean Howard. sergeant-at-arms. The members of the new Art Club enjoyed a profit- able year by indulging in everything from criticizing their individual sketches to visiting the art galleries dur- ing their leisure time. The officers were Carol Fedak, president. and Nancy Boswell. secretary. Miss Billings is the sponsor of this club whose purpose is BTO give students an opportunity to pursue their art with their own projects and aims in mindf, The bookstore. under the direction of Mr. Dixon and with the assistance of Rosalie Johnson, ,lerry Johnson, Doris Armes. ,lames Shipman, Fred Anderson. lsolina Rossi. Alice Hayden. and ,lane Bennett. completed a successful year of sales ranging from school supplies to necklaces. The store was open before and after school and during every lunch period. Dean Stancliff tells the Bible Club who next week's speaker will be. Discussion Of Bible Furfhers Understanding The Bible Club, sponsored by Mrs. Stecca, was organized to create fellowship for those interested in Christ and the Bible, and to encourage further growth in a knowledge of Christian living. Dean Stancliff, presidentg Betty Davis, vice-presi- dentg and Gwen Hathcock, secretary-treasurerg lead the club through an active second year of attending Youth For Christn meetings, making Easter baskets for poor children in the community, and listening to the speeches of distinguished religious leaders, Dale Crawley and Don Rosenburger. D. E. Course Helps To Produce Good Drivers To encourage good driving and safe- ty habits, the driver training class was held for the sophomores who were fif- teen years of age or older. The program, instructed by Mr. Vin- cent Ford, allowed each student to drive at least one hour a week and to spend one hour in the classroom. To pass the course, the sophomores were required to prove that they could exhibit a proper attitude toward the car as well as the necessary ability to maneuver it. Driver training has its difficulties! Mr. Ford gives pointers, and Carolina Agnolutto looks puzzled. ofrh
