First occupied in 1939, it is just as beautiful now as it was when first used. fx L Q3 cf ,f L' LV tr H , 1 x ,t Wg 5 yi ff ff ff' J i Q lx ln Memoriom This year the Class of 1956 lost one of its promising members, Carmella Spe- zialy. Stricken ill without warning, she suffered intense pain for a few short days until the All-wise Father took her home where she will forever be free from pain, care, hardship, or disappoint- ment. As an office messenger, Carmella was quiet, unassuming, and dependable. As a member of the Library Staff, she could not be surpassed for efficiency and thor- oughness. As a participant in the Girls' Athletic Association and the annual ex- hibition, she was active and enthusiastic. As a student, she was careful, industrious, and conscientious. Carmella enioyed the respect and esteem of faculty and students alike for her gentleness, her sweetness and, above all, for her winning smile. She was a friend to all and loved by all. It is difficult to think of her as absent yet we can always remember her as ever young, ever happy, ever lovely. Unexpectedly and with tragic swiftness . . . called from time to eternity . . . In Memoriam of the type of man who makes commu- nities, states, and nations great . . . Merle V. Owen, born and educated in our community, and in his adulthood energetically devoted to the welfare of our citizens, witness his active member- ship in the Sugarcreek Civic Club, the Sugarcreek P. T. A., the Rocky Grove Volunteer Fireman Association, and the district School Board. Keenly interested in the education of our youth, Mr. Owen unselfishly donated his time and energy as a director of the School Board from 1947 to 1954, serv- ing as President of the Board in 1952 and part of 1953. We express our grati- tude and our sense of community-loss. Front Row, Left to Right: H. Carl Wasson, E. Wayne Lesh, Roy C. Sanford, R. Glenn Carter, Harry Shuff- stall, Sr., Margaret Shay. Glenn Carter, who, with steadfast loyalty and unremitting effort, has made our days of learning and studying at Rocky Grove High School not only profitable, but also deeply pleasurable. lt is apparent that as teacher, as high school principal, and as superintendent that needs of the student body have been uppermost in his thinking, and that all changes have been made with this in mind. Under his leadership the opportunities to obtain a better education for the students of the area have increased and pros- pered, and we know that he has a store of ideas in mind for the further enrichment and growth of our alma mater for the students of tomorrow. We, the class of 1955, are keenly aware that we owe much to the quiet, unassuming Mr. Carter, and therefore welcome this opportunity to express our appreciation to him in this manner. ..3... i 5:5 k , V - -.- A ' M, wf !
