THE EDITOR SPEAKS There are many people without whose help this yearbook would not be possible. At this time I thank the teachers who have worked tirelessly, merchants who have given us financial aid, and the students who have deemed it a privilege and an honor to cooperate with this publication We, the Class of 1953 take this opportunity to speak on democracy and what it has meant to us and our future Because of the conditions in the world today we feel very privileged in being able to graduate in a free country Our role in the future is not one of assuming that our children will have the same opportunity Some of us will work, some will go to college, and some will go to war. We would like to assure our parents, teachers, graduates, and under graduates that one of our most priceless possessions has been a free education and that we will fight Communism in every phase of our life We feel that the old phrase ulife owes us a living' is passe and we intend to go forward and work for democracy HUGH foolns, Egitor in Chief
