Each member receives instruction in agriculture, farm shop and parliamentary procedure. Members also carry out a super¬ vised farming program. One of our many activities is a yearly Parent-Son Banquet. Making gates, truck racks, and many other shop constructions are a few of our many projects. OUR MOTTO: Learning to do Doing to learn Earning to live Living to serve 38 m The Future Homemakers of America is the national organization of pupils studying homemaking in junior and senior high schools of the United States and Territories. CREED We are the Future Homemakers of America. We face the future with warm courage and high hope. Chap¬ ter mothers were entertained at a Mother- Daughter Banquet. The FHA also sponsored an assembly program which included a fashion show. Money making projects in¬ cluded serving two banquets and two Ruritan suppers. L. Some of the things the members learn are how to sing in a group, how to pronounce words while singing, and how to follow the director ' s motions. This year the Glee Club studied the different types of folk songs. The group prepared a program of Christmas music to sing for the patients at Southwestern State Hospital. Library Club members assist the libra¬ rian in charging and shelving books and magazines, maintaining a up-to-date vertical file, and doing a complete in¬ ventory of the library. A yearly project is the collection of toys at Christmas. Our club was host to the Smyth County Student Librarians Association this spring. The Maple Murmurs staff is made up of those students interested in writing. It has as its goal the creation of an interest in and the presentation of activities and events at Sugar Grove High School. 44 SMYTH-BLAND REGIONAL LiBRARY MARION, VIRGINIA The Student Cooperative Association, the governing body of the school, includes the entire student body of Sugar Grove High School. Its purpose is to promote citizenship, self-improvement, leadership, and better co-operation among students, teachers and the community. This year the association sponsored a Christmas decorations contest, continued the sale of school pennants, and sponsored a drive to raise funds for Christmas tree decorations which will be used in years to come for the enjoyment of both the school and the community.
