Four years ago, I entered Suffolk University as President, along with the members of this year ' s graduating class. I am sure that we suffered with some mutuality the disquiet of the day and apprehension for the future. Four academic years have now passed. The problems have not dis- appeared, nor have all our fears been allayed. We have both matured in our ability to appraise what is important and what is not important, to decide who are the true prophets and who are the false prophets. We have not learned everything, but one concept has developed in our time — the concept of lifetime learning. Education is no longer confined to four years, or five years, but is a lifetime endeavor and pursuit, which will expand the one faculty which we all possess, which is incapable of over-expansion — our ability to learn. With this knowledge, we go on our way, commencing not finishing, to a fulfillment which we hope will be satisfying, rewarding, and beneficial to each other. Thomas A. Fulham President
