SENIOR CLASS HISTORY In September, 1954, the Senior Class of 1958 assembled for the very first time in a body in the Suffolk University Auditorium. We were now first year college or rather freshmen, as we preferred to be called. After the first few weeks of general disorder and confusion, we settled down to the routine of college life. John Donohoe was elected Presi- dent and Timothy Curtin, Vice-President of our class. Although we were soon engulfed in our studies we still had sufficient time to attend many of the pleasant socials. The highlight of the year, as far as we were con- cerned, was the Beanie Dance, sponsored by the Seniors in our honor. This dance typified the cordial spirit of the Suffolk family which has permeated within the walls since the founding of the University in 1906. After this very profitable freshman year, we were graduated to the sophomore class. After electing our class officers — President, James Lalime; Vice-President, Jordan Ring; Secretary, Celia Letorney; and Treasurer, Richard Walsh, we were established as an entity in the Universtiy — the Sophomore Class. Now we began to enter into the spirit of college life at Suffolk University. Besides our academic work, we actively participated in many other activities, such as Newman Club, Debating Club, Business Club and Drama Club. We also participated in the Suffolk sports program, namely, Baseball, Basketball, and Hockey. During this year, too, we enjoyed many pleasurable socials. The next step in our educational career began in September, 1956. At this time, we entered the University with the prestige of Upperclassmen Juniors. No longer confused and callow sophomores, we made much progress in both college work and extra- curricular activities. We soon elected our class officers — James Lalime, President; Henry Selvitella, Jr., Vice-President; Celia Letorney, Secretary, and Richard Walsh, Treasurer. The two outstanding events of the year were the successful dance at the Riverside Boat Club and the fine Drama Club presentation of Picnic. With our Junior Year completed, we em- barked upon the last lap on our collegiate journey — the Senior Year. The fulfillment of our educational dreams was now in view — college graduation. Under the leadership of Henry Selvitella, Jr., Robert Chevoor, Celia Letorney, and Anthony Cocuzzo, our class officers, we made splendid strides in every direction. This year, however, proved to be most eventful. Our regular academic work was supplemented by various outside activi- ties, such as the Senior Prom, Drama Club presentation, Business Club affairs, and two successful dances. Worthy of special men- tion was the election of 12 outstanding stu- dents at Suffolk University to the highly coveted Who ' s Who in American Colleges and Universities. As our Senior Year draws to a close, we view with mixed emotions the termination of these college days. We feel confident that the class of 1958, equipped with the training which it has received at Suffolk University, will make many useful contributions to the welfare of the nation, and of the world.
