Settt i 0 7?tem Ue Do you remember when we first climbed the majestic steps of Suffolk High? It seems like only yesterday that we were lowly Freshmen — blind to the great traditions of the past and skeptical of the future. We were thrown into the hustle and bustle of high school life like small animals are throw n into the jungle to fend for themselves. The more we struggled, the closer we became. We overcame the obstacles of adolescence together. We are now stricken with a double standard — waiting anxiously for graduation, but also trying desperately to prolong our stay at S. H. S. Even though the shelter, guidance, and confidence that these walls have provided will be taken away, our memories w ill stay with us forever. These have been the best years of our lives and nothing will ever change them. As we look back, it is only natural to shed a tear or two. One phase of our lives is ending and another is beginning. 20 Seniors Have Their Day Senior Day means ivy and roses on the front steps, the Senior class flag flying from the flag pole, and a ceremony in Birdsong to honor the graduating class. The underclass¬ men watch as the Seniors march, two by two, down the steps and wonder if they, too, will make the long march to the flagpole. Tears flow as the Seniors leave their chairs and the Juniors move to take their place as the incoming Senior class. As the transition takes place, other students realize that they, too, are one step closer to their Senior Day. — Laurie Robertson One of the favorite skits of the 1987 Senior Day featured basketball play¬ er, “King” Marcus Elam and his cheerleaders and body guards.
