Freshmen Get Adjusted On Aug 26, the Friday before school started, the auditorium was filled with many excited freshmen. These students showed up for the orientation assembly, where they were introduced to the school and staff. Mr. Hill and Mr. Jones familiarized new students with the school rules and regulations, as well as what to from the new school year. Mrs. Alwood also welcomed the new students to Suffolk High and introduced peer facilitators who then showed them to their homeroom classes. Orientation day was a success although as always you could easily pick freshmen from the crowd on the first day of school. High school life is quite different, as the freshmen soon found out. There were a great many adjustments to be made. During homecoming week the freshmen got acquainted with flat beds, paints and napkins. Although their float Cage the Tigers ' ' came in fourth place they became more aware of what to do; and enjoyed Homecoming week just the same. The activities were new to them but they hung right in, and their school spirit has increased as the year progressed. As you can see, these freshmen are really enthusiastic about Health class. Th‘■ I xecutive r MU ' ■ A new face appeared in tht office this year which everyone recognized as the new principal, Mr Hill One could always count on advice from Mr, Hill and of course Mr, Jones, assis¬ tant principal, when a problem arises The two smiling faces behind tJiose desks piled with work were our secretaries, Mrs Hobbs and Mrs Jones One could always count on a helping hand from them whether teacher or student while they maintained the office work with efficiency, Mrs, Alwood, our guidance counselor, is always able to straighten out a schedule, lend a listening ear or give advice about the future in a helpful way, Mrs Williams, school bookkeeper, keeps classes and dubs in good financial shape. 18
