Piatek, Commanding Officer of the USS SUFFOLK COUNTY QLST-1l73l was born in Newark, New Jersey and has been in the U. S. Navy since 1943, having entered through the V-12 pro- gram, He attended Drew University in Madison New Jersey and received his Midshipman training at Columbia University in New York City. During his Naval Career, CDR Piatekhas served on the USS PETROF BAY CCVE-801, USS LST-601 USS CHARLES S. SPERRY QDD-692l, and the Ussf PARLE KDE-7081, serving as Executive Officer of the latter. CDR Piatek has, in addition, served tours of duty in Staff Communications for the Supreme Allied Commander, U. S. Atlantic Fleet, and prior to his present command, CDR Piatek served as Training Officer and Officer in Charge of the Leadership School at the Fleet Training Center in Norfolk. He presently lives at 167 Leiceister Ave. in Norfolk Virginia, with his wife Josephine, two daughters: Karen and Kathy, and son Bruce.
