Although your high school years have terminated, and for many, courses toward new horizons already charted, the process of education, the building of character and integrity should continue to wax strong. Emerson expressed it simply: “The things taught in schools and colleges are not an education, but the means of education.” While in college or in the myriad of vocations many of you will enter immediately, take advantage of what you have been exposed to here at Suffield High. Utilize it to become truly educated. Strive to become good doctors, lawyers, teachers, tradesmen and more important good husbands, wives, mothers and fathers—individuals con¬ cerned enough about other people to influence change and make this a better country and world in which to live. Principal (A.B., Ed.M.) TRATION My first vivid impressions of Suffield ' s students and ad¬ ults have not dimmed after being exposed to the town for several months. I continue to be heartened and pleas¬ antly surprised by the town ' s belief in education, by its faith in its educational leaders, and by its solid monetary backing of education. In many towns where I have lived and taught, the pre¬ vailing attitude seemed to have been, “What ' s good enough for me is good enough for my children.” In Suffield, the attitude is obviously more progressive. “What was good enough for me, is not good enough for my children.” The resulting first class education of Suffield ' s future taxpayers and decision makers presents unlimited advantages. This heritage of sacrifice by the present generation in order that the next may be better able to cope with its future responsibilities is both ad¬ mirable and sensible. I sincerely hope that you, the Senior Class of 1966 , will carry on this vital tradition. Assistant Principal (B.A., M.Ed.) 13
