Young in years and green in judgement as we began our Freshman year. Class Officers President: Tommy Kaplan Vice President: Jo Linda Romano Secretary: Susan Duckrow Treasurer: Pat Valinskus In our Sophomore year Raye began his career as President and his nose began to grow. The other officers were: Vice President: Pam Washburn Secretary: Susan Duckrow Treasurer: Pat Valinskus Although bouffant hair-dos and pointed shoes were in style, we went against the fashion trends of the world and sold sweatshirts. We increased school spirit among the classes by selling pennants. April showers bring May flowers and so we sponsored an April Showers Hop to bring out all the Wall Flowers. Peanuts, popcorn, and candy, candy, candy! ! Mrs. Leland’s chocolate bars made the scene as our big money-making deal of the year. For the first time class competition was introduced as part of the annual Pep Rally to heighten the excitement. Through our vigorous efforts of class support and eye-catching decorations, we achieved the first of our many successes. Our Junior year found Raye once again as our president with Tom Kaplan as Vice President, Josh Eisold as Secretary, and Pat Valinskus as Treasurer. Remember the day everyone in town had the best desserts imaginable? You guessed it! That was the day of our food sale. We decided that instead of selling something in school, we would treat the town and show off our abilities as Then in November our cooks as well as scholars. We daily routine was are to sa y it was a glorious success! interrupted for one of the highlights of our Junior Year— our trip to the United Nations. We will all agree that it was an eventful and impressing day. Again that fall our basketball season began with the Pep Rally. Competition was keen among the classes, but under the guiding hands of Dee Rapport and John Casinghino we succeeded in winning the competition for the second year in a row! May 25 found us departing for that beautiful land of Hawaii, for our Junior Prom. All the worries of the days before vanished as our nerves were soothed by the music of Bill Robbins Orchestra. The Hawaiian Sunset came to a glamorous climax with Laurie Woods being crowned as queen. In her court were Sue Duckrow, Pat Valinskus, Finally the big year came Dottie Bialomyza, Sue Prekop, anc | at as we . ound Dorothy Jackson, Carolyn ourselves as Seniors. We were all proud to have Sue Duckrow and Jo-Linda Romano representing us at Laurel Girls ' State; with Mark Rowell and David Berry at Nutmeg Boys ' State. was presented with a dozen yellow roses and the court received authentic Hawaiian leis. Samsel our Vice-President, Josh Eisold our secretary, and Pam Washburn our treasurer. i The year was off to a successful start with our magazine drive. We extend a special thanks to our top salesmen — Jonathan Lyman. Tommy Kaplan, Brad Hamel, and Bruce Root, for helping to make it such a success. was The Again the basketball season greeted by the Pep Rally, school spirit was tremendous and the noise overwhelming! With the backboard adorned by a great wildcat and each student wearing his ’64 beanie, the great unity an support of our class was rewards when we heard Mr. Brown annou that this year ' s winner was one w would never win again — who else could it be except us! For the third time in a row victory was ours. Thus we established a precedent which other classes will find hard to beat. Early in the fall the new members were inducted into the National Honor Society. Jo-Linda Romano head¬ ed the ceremony initiating Sue Duckrow, Connie Slater, Martha Fairman, Teddy Andersen, Dorian Love, Cecily Leel, Dorothy Gonsior, Justine Parsons, Linda Realini, Dorann Rapport, and Wendy Firtion into the Society. “In The the theme of our Wendv Firtion We were proud to have seven Senior boys on the basketball team. Lee Simon, Mark Rowell, Bobby Flynn, Rich Gibson, Dan Viets, Raye Mandirola, and Artie Merrill all helped spur the team on to victory. The team finished its regular season with a 10-6 record. Cheering the boys on to victory were Cecily Leel, Susie Duckrow, Wendy Firtion, Marcia Cowles, Pat Valinskus, Ellen Lanati and Josh Eisold — Captain. Mood Of Wintertime was Senior Ball. With and Brad Hamel supervising the decorations, we turned the gym into a dark, romantic, star-filled evening. Cecily Leel reigned as queen and in her court were Dee Rapport, Sue Prekop, Laurie Woods, Mary Bragg, Marilyn Kope, and Pat Valinskus. Finally with the big day close at hand, our banquet was held. Only days later we found ourselv es making our last trip up the stairs of the stage to receive our diplomas. He gave To his beloved land All that he could His gift By nature was supreme; It was his life. We hope That his untimely death Was not in vain. We pray The flame above his grave May light the world.
