SUPERINTENDENT’S MESSAGE To the Class of 1959: Each person’s life is marked by certain events which retrospect shows were turning points in shaping that life. That is, at certain times one is faced with a choice of action and his decision in¬ fluences the whole course of his life. Graduation is such a choice-point. Where does one go from here? Shall it be to work or to further schooling? If to work, what kind of work shall it be? If to further schooling, what shall be its nature? One key to decision is found in the common expression of good wishes often written in yearbooks: Best wishes for a happy and a useful life.” Note the two ingredients—happiness and usefulness. Both are needed. Ask yourself: Will this vocation bring self-realization and, at the same time, make a contribution to the welfare of others? If you can truthfully answer, ”yes,” your choice has been a wise one. DR. WILLIAM M. FARRIS B.S., M.Ed., Ph.D. Yale University

PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE To the Class of 1959: As you approach an important milestone in your life, we trust that you have established a firm foundation upon which to build your future. Opportunities await you at every turn; possibilities are unlimited in this great world of ours. One does not need to achieve fame to be considered successful. Success is possible for those who strive for it. The degree of your success will depend upon the amount of effort you are willing to put forth, the number of sacrifices you are willing to make. To some it may be very difficult, to others, relatively easy. We trust that you will take full advantage of your opportunities and enjoy a happy and fruitful life. We are proud of the record of the graduates of Suffield High School. Their accomplishments have been many, bringing honor to our school. We know that you, too, will carry on this fine tradition. HOWARD C. BROWN B.S., M.Ed. Springfield College 9
