t FEINT' Q ll. in ll A , illllll' , I J Mk lli ll Within its three year tenure, the Orientation Pro- gram has certainly become a unique and worthwhile experience. Technically it is a two-day program of mental and physical obstacles that are to be tackled by each member of a group, but also it is an unpres- sured way of breaking the ice among new stu- dents, who may feel slightly unsure of themselves in their new situation. By stressing individual partici- pation and team unity, the program brings the teammates together as they work to achieve their goal. Whether going through an obstacle course in the pouring rain or pitching a tent while blindfolded, all who participate walk away with a greater under- standing of one another. Aside from this, a state of community grows between students and teachers that enhances a free and expressive learning experi- ence. In addition, it sets the mood for the new year at Suffield. It gets you in gear to accept new chal- lenges and meet them head-on with a winning atti- tude. Although orientation in itself is demanding, it lets new students ease their way into life at Suffield. lt's a great way to get to know other new students, teachers, and yourself a little bit better. zo l

Varsity Football 5 2 1st row: B. Green, Stremmel, Salvio, Goodman, Sanzo Ccaptj, Georges, Renner Arneill Coach Corbiere 2nd row Goldbach, Bosworth, Walker, Trudeau, Schneider, Mayo, Bitting, Westlake, Polisky Coach Waskiewicz 3rd row Hawkins, Watson, Senatore, August, McKenzie, Gunn, M. Higgins, F. Drapeau Boas Blessis Scott Coach DeSalvo, Coach Giguere, This year's team closed out its 5-2 season with a powerful 28-13 win over Hopkins. As usual, the Tigers scored most of their points in the first half. The team did better than the record indicates. During the entire season, the offense was led by the rushing of Jim Scott. He was Suffield's leading rusher with 832 yards on 82 carries. He also led Suffield in total points with 92. But the other members of the offensive backfield were also valuable contributors: Joe Nlayo, 305 yards on 50 carries, 36 points, Dave Senatore, 317 yards on 53 carries, 12 points, and Greg Georges, 340 yards on 43 carries, 20 points. Even though Suffield was strictly a run- ning team, whenever we passed, there was always someone to receive. The defense was one of the strongest points of the team. lt was led by a strong line, hard-hitting linebackers and a quick and versatile secondary. Overall, the team had a successful season and enjoyed many memorable team efforts. The team would like to thank the great dedication of the coaching staff: head coach Wask- iewicz and his assistant coaches, coach Corbiere, who was in charge of the linebackers, while coach DeSalvo had the backs, both offensive and defensive. Also the team would like to thank coach Giguere, who said, You ain't a team until you all work together, and at that moment I'II be proud enough to hold up that sign of victory which says 'TEAlVl'l
