fl, fire gl 6lJlff,CltQ1f Ofyafl. 7 It would be much easier for me to greet you on this all important day if conditions in the world and in our school were more nearly normal. I do think, however, that you are all mature enough to recognize real situations and solve your problems accordingly. It is because I am convinced of your adaptability and intelligence that I offer you my sincere congratulations. We have just completed a dilhcult term in which it was not possible to organize the usual activities associated with seniors, and yet you have done your work nobly and placed all matters in their true perspective. In later years, when you look back to the current problems and the way we have all combined to meet them, you will come to recognize two important points. First, that we have not neglected fundamentals, and, second, that your teachers, also under trying tensions, have served you loyally and well. You will barely leave these halls when the realities of a troubled world will be shifted to your young shoulders. I know that you have given thought to the political tinder boxes all over the globe, and I know that you are ready to assume your responsibilities in preserving your freedom and your heritage. I hope that the influence of evil forces will abate and the imperative need for settling differences by peaceful means will predominate so that you will have your rightful opportuntiy to progress in your education and your life work. Sincerely yours, .gr-ec! 3CAO0ll60I'g

Jizfclm inifffrafion The excellent administration of our school has been one of the factors responsible for the present prominence of Stuyvesant as one of the best schools in New York State. Among the most important factors is the kindness, the understanding, and the generosity of our Principal, Mr. Fred Schoenberg. His sincere help and advice has aided in the extension and coordination of our extra-curricular activities He has always been willing to confer with representatives of the student bodies and has always been ready to hear a complaint and to offer a solution to the problem. He has always been progressive in his outlook on education and the many improvements in the curriculum of our school have been the result of constant painstaking research and thought on his part. We have been lucky to have Mr. Schoenberg as our guardian-angel these past years. Assistants to Mr. Schoenberg in his administrative capacity are Mr. jacob Wortinan. Mr. Hubert Hart, and Mr, Moses Lipeles. Mr. Wortman is the Administrative Assistant in charge of personnel and has the important task of supervising programming and other organizational responsibilities, including the designation of assignments to the members of the faculty. Mr. Hubert Hart is Dean of the Afternoon Session. He is in charge of the P.M. Assembly and the weekly S.H.S. Announcer. He also has charge of general school discipline and assists Mr. Schoenberg with such minor problems as parents and strikes. Mic. lllllll in llfxiii' Mit. glacoii XY7URTMAN 12
