The play is complicated by the actions of Bud Hooper, portrayed by john Rule The boys at Winsocki Prep. are making frenzied preparations to receive the girls who are coming up-for the big annual dance. Bud Hooper troubles are revealed to his room- mates. A month ago when they went to see a movie starring Gale joy-the whom girl- the trouble started. Bud got carried away and wrote to the movie star, asking her to come to the prom and she accepts! fThey don't know how she needs a publicity breakj. Bud has hastily written his regular date, Helen, that he has had an attack of the grippe, and he expects to have it until after the dance. But, so that the faculty won't get angry, Bud tries to take the publicity-needing Gale joy to the dance as his girl Helen-and then Helen arrives! Bud gets deeper and deeper into trouble, and the final solution that saves Bud from being expelled makes this one of the finest youthful comedies Broadway has ever made available to ameteurs.
