But time marches on and changes are wrought By the five nice kids that the stork has brought. Rosemary, Doris, and Faye, the three dears, Are still all single though advanced in years. All you single old bachelors had better get maps, So you can wade through their numerous traps. Tommy Walton, our football line ginny, Has stopped throwing passes at pretty Pat Hemme. They finally are settled and are having their fill Of learning to run the Walton Rice Mill . Clyde Pettit, the bachelor, as you plainly see, Finally broke down and married Phyllis B. While B. D. Hicks, our sweet peanut vendor Had finally made Kathleen Kennedy surrender. Rosaline Grandgeorge, our cute opera teacher, Has married Bobby Wessels who I hear is a preacher. While Iohn Stuckey, the boy with the number one face, Has gone to the movies to take Van Iohnson's place. Frances Nix, the piano player, Has never had her genius fail 'er. She climbs over obstacles, no matter how tall, She'll soon be playing in Carnegie Hall. Though years have come and slowly gone, Our S.H.S. still lingers on. As I strolled thru town I saw at last What was left of the '47 graduating class. I saw on a corner Mr. and Mrs. Blackp Ruth said she was glad to see me back. Our conversation was going strong, When her kids called for her to come along. I slowly turned 'round and walked into Crowe'sp I hadn't been there in a long time, I know. At the bar sat cop Leopold Z., He'd taken the place of Appleby. Arnold and Nellie were the ones I saw next, They were living with the Holbert's in a quaint duplex. I forgot to tell, but Bill, our Clark Gable, Had suddenly married Norma Lee Abel. X Sincere Betty Hiatt, a loveable girl, With the help of Miss Foti, had the place in a whirl, It seems they'd concocted a formula of joy For all lovesick girls on how to catch a boy. Colvin, McKenzie, and Brands, our basketball stars, Had a team of their own and had gone very far. They were national champs and had great renown, Why, Betty could shoot baskets while upside down. Gay, Donny, and Tootie, our pride and joys, Had grown into three great big boys. They are now doctors with great careers And are thought by the public to be quite some dears. I glanced at the headline of the Leader and saw Roy McCollum had a new son-in-law, Harry and Margaret Ann had married, oh joy, She really put the strings on our wandering boy. Charlie Davis, with his dear wife Ioyce, Had become the nation's number one choice. He's the president of the U.S.A. And was only inaugurated yesterday. Iimmy Scroggins, the football player, Had been elected Stuttgart's mayor. He rules the town with an iron hand And, as far as I know, is a single man. Sherry and Ioan, the duet singers, With their accompanist, Peggy, are real crowd- bringers, They sing the songs and play the notes Which their helper, Carolyn, wrote. In Lodges Corner, there resides a pair Who, for all I know will always be there, Iohn Lewis and Sue are the sweet bride and groom Sue handles our hero with the end of a broom. Bill Blackwell our gay, young hop Is running his father's barber shop. And in the corner where your shoes get a shine We see, popping the shine rag, old Gus Baurnfind. I then found Pudgy in the regular places, Over at Hot Springs playing the races. While Arthur Hoffpaiur, our second Harry James Has climbed the ladder to success and fame. And now on my prophecy the curtain falls, As cheers ring out in the study-halls. While I watch the proud grades go past, I say give three cheers for a swell senior class.. 'LX srunr Nr co it NCCltl The Student Council, active in Stuttgart High School since 1939, has made definite advancement this year toward accomplishing its purpose-better cooperation between students and faculty members. The greatest achieve- ment of this group this year was its joining the National Association of Stu- dent Councils. - Some of the numerous duties performed are: directing traffic around the school during bad weather, assigning assemblies, sponsoring the lost and found department, and assisting in student activities, such as the junior Red Cross drive. Charles Davis, president of the Stuttgart Student Council, was elected president of the Inter-City Council held in Helena last October. The other Inter-City Council of the year was held in Hughes in March. The council now includes seven representatives from the seniors, five from the juniors, three from the sophomores, two from the freshmen and one each from the seventh and eighth grades. ' The president and vice president were elected at the end of last year by popular vote from the student body. They are: president, Charles Davis, senior, and vice president, Roger Waggoner, junior. The council sponsor this year has been Mr. Gene Waldon, principal. mamma . , ,r1w.w4,g:g7yQs5i.f'1, Seated: Robert Smith, Betty Hiatt, Betty Bueker. A student who is enrolled in this program may alternate a half-day in school and a half-day on the job in a learning procedure for a particular trade or occupation. This part-time program brings the employer and the school together in an effort to train boys and girls who plan to end their educational career at the completion of high school. The school does its part by furnishing technical instruction, and the em- ployer provides the trainee with directed experience under actual working conditions. Vocational Training is paralleled with Vocational Guidance which was introduced in Stuttgart High School this year. to ,Q Y X X-. aligglx W J.3:i., . ? v'i'f flv+'cuw:us-n-:.::-::,4T,,,, , , xg, 5 A-V . The plot revolved around a widow, Ioyce Hoskins, and her troubles in finding matrimonial catches for Katinka, Sari, and Ella, the older oi her seven daughters. These were played by Peggy Ragland, Ioan Pollard, and Carolyn Pullig. ,Her problem was complicated by the fact that she was bound to the old custom of marrying off her daughters in the order of their ages. Mitzi, the fourth daughter, portrayed by Sherry Drennen, was expelled from school for running away to a masque ball. She was reduced to the age of 15 in order to advance her sisters' matrimonial chances. Feri Horkoy, Iohn Edmund Stuckey, the lieutenant she met at the ball, crossed her path. They revealed her plight and he wagered that within a year he will see that her older sisters are married off. Mitzi's own romance with Horkoy became seri- ously threatened, but matters adjusted themselves and Horkoy wins his wager. Other parts were: Gay Gillette as the Colonel, Charles Davis another lieutenant, Iohn Wittman the Colonel's nephew, Donny Loveless as Toni, Don-Q ald Borchert as the gardener, Carolyn Colvin, Norma Lee Abel, and Earlene Conrad as the three younger sisters.
