This was an enthusiastic event and each contestant was-strongly backed by lns Class. A T The Stage was beautifully decorated in the School c-olors and pot- ted plants. Sections of the auditorium were decorated in the Class col- ors. Before and after the Contest the audience was entertained with or- chestral music, and stunts of the Senior Class. The Judges were: Mrs. Sam Saucier, Clay, Kentucky rj Miss Pauline Powell, Sebree, Kentucky, Mr. Marlin Blackwell, Dixon, Kentucky. MORGANFIELD-'STURGIS CONTEST On Monday evening, March 9th, the first sub-district Contest was held with Morganfield. This contest was to decide the winners in Or- atory, Declamatory and Debate. The Stage was attractively decorated with potted plants and the colors of the two schools. 'I 4 A so The Judges were: Dr. Bassett, English Department, Evansville College, Mr. Burke, History Department, CentralHigh School, Evans- ville, Ind., and Mr. Kadakus, History Department, Reitz High School, Evansville, Ind. The decision was given to Carrie Melton and Daniel Berry of Stur- gis, Morganfield winning the Debate. - fbi El Ol-I School Paper The Class of twenty-five always sponsored any movement that tend- ed toward the betterment and develop'ment of the school. One of the most beneficial -of these movements was the publication of the weekly school paper, The Sturgeon. . Through this medium, the parents and citizens of the town are able to learn and appreciate what the pupils and school as a whole are doing. A school paper,'in any community, is a mark of progress, and it is tne profound, wish of the Class that this movement be continued thioughout the coming years.
