Meeting weekly to learn to play chess is the Chess Club sponsored by Mr. Taylor. New members learn the science of the game from Mr. Taylor and from experienced play- ers. A continuous tournament run throughout the year and standings are published in Sturges Star, our school paper. CLUB PROQRAM The club program at Sturges is designed to give the student an opportunity to pur- sue his special interests and try out things which are new to him. When a pupil is willing to spend his time in an after school adtivity he is showing his citizenship and school spirit as well as his interest in the club. Part of our school philosophy con- cerns the boys and girl? who do not have time in their busy schedules to take all the subjects they wish, but who may, through the club program, participate in any num- ber of extra-curricular experiences. oLibraru Worhers Assisting Mrs. Norma Parker, our librarian, are the library workers. Working at the desk, checking books in and out and assisting other stu- dents to find and replace books on the shelf are just a few of the many duties of the library workers. Keep- ing over 8,000 books in circulation is a job made much easier by the help of this diligent group of students.
