Cheerleaders This year the High School Cheerleaders sponsored the Pep Club and help- ed to organize Junior High Cheerleaders. They sold sweat shirts as a money making project to raise money for new uniforms. Mark Woodruff, Gary Jennings, Steve Dawson. Absent from picture Debbie Blakcmore. Certainly this year’s was one of Sturgeon’s High School’s most active student councils. Under President Ray Smith, Vice-President Buster Adkisson, and Secretary Rhonda Smith, the Council began the job of beginning a student government here. In this we were assisted by the new, student-passed Constitution. This year we saw the first student government school assemblies where all students were given the oppor- tunity to speak openly about student matters. During the fall, the Council joined the Mo. Association of Student Councils. We went to Louisania, Mo. in October for a District Meeting and ran for District Secretary. Of course, the Council sponsored its two yearly dances, the Christmas Dance and the Homecoming Dance. The year ended well with a highly-spirited spring election tor new Council officers for next year. 72
