Certainly this year’s was one of Sturgeon’s High School’s most active student councils. Under President Ray Smith, Vice-President Buster Adkisson, and Secretary Rhonda Smith, the Council began the job of beginning a student government here. In this we were assisted by the new, student-passed Constitution. This year we saw the first student government school assemblies where all students were given the oppor- tunity to speak openly about student matters. During the fall, the Council joined the Mo. Association of Student Councils. We went to Louisania, Mo. in October for a District Meeting and ran for District Secretary. Of course, the Council sponsored its two yearly dances, the Christmas Dance and the Homecoming Dance. The year ended well with a highly-spirited spring election tor new Council officers for next year. 72 F.H.A FIRST ROW: Miss Wade, Debbie Heath, Secretary, Rhonda Smith, Vice-President, Margaret McKenzie, Devotional Leader, Cathy White, Reporter, Janet Herrin, President, Pat Smith.
