Being in a reminiscing mood we decided to look through some old keep¬ sakes that had been packed away for years. The first we ran across was a copy of the ' 56 JEB. Nancy and I sat down and began to look through it and as we looked at the annual we wondered what had become of the other members of our class. Before long we both dropped off to sleep. A while later Nancy woke me up by saying, “Wake up Teeny, and let me tell you what I dreamed. “I was in the Palace Theater and it was just time for the stage show to begin. The curtain opened and there was Nancy Dunkley, Shirley Gunter, Sarah Dalton, Johnny Adams, Garnett Hall, and Camden Joyce, Jr. They gave a wonderful performance, Sarah and Johnny, being the two leading comedians of their day. Next came the newsreel. They were showing the testing of the new jet planes , and when the pilot stepped out of the plane, to my surprise, it was Bill Ray. Then it switched over to Washington, D. C., where the Vice-President, Edward Gunter, was speaking to a group of people. Following this came the fashion section and you can imagine how happy I was to see that Margaret Creasey had been chosen the best dressed woman of the year. And last was the sport section. They were showing a section of the Darlington 500 Auto race, and who should be the winner but our old classmate, Brian Mooney, who from his experience in driving around Stuart, had developed into a famous auto race driver. Now it was time for the feature to begin and the leading actor was Bruce Gunter. After enjoying the movie very much I went backstage to talk to Nancy Dunkley and her troupe to see if they knew what had become of the rest of our class. They said that Dorothy Shockley was teaching commercial subjects and Violet Williams, art, at Stuart. Charlotte Nowlin is now Mrs. Aaron Wood, one of the general managers of the United Elastic Corporation at Stuart. Donice Jean Light, Doris Williams, and Yvonne Williams, are nurses at John Hopkins Hospital in Maryland. Jackie Roberson and Jimmy Conway are the most eligible bachelors in Stuart. Myra Williams is now Mrs. Donald Tatum and lives in Martinsville. Jo Ann Roberson is now Mr s . George Bruce Handy. Janelle Owens is making quite a name for herself in the Gospel singing field. Shirley Jessup and Micky Williams are married and living on Mayo Court. He is now half owner of the Stuart Lum¬ ber Corporation. Ruth Blaylock is a teacher at Radford College. Jane Bryant has a T.V. program entitled “Let’s Cook It Right.” Mary Jane Belton and her husband live on Col- linstown Road and have just bought a ’66 Mercury. Ann Cassady and Vergie Harris are both happily married and are near neighbors at Patrick Springs. Johnny Mitchell and his wife have recently made their home in Stuart where he is a veternarian. Lucy Williams is happily married and makes her home at Meadows of Dan.” It is nice to know that the future of our classmates will be successful and we wish for them as happy and glamorous life as found in my dreams.
