Betty Colon, will my position as typist on the Stryk-Hi to Arnold Burdine. Juanita Fetter, will my red hair to Marlene Perkins. Norma Fleming, will my nickname Clarabell to anyone who wants it. Evelyn Franc is, will my singing ability to Harold Carlin. Richie Frank, will those Ugly Pills I have to take to Mr. Follas, even though he doesn't need them. Geraldine Graber, will my sewing ability to Nancy Gurwell. Leann Grogg, will my ability to get-in-Dutch with Mr. Rex to Shelby Patten. Ruthanna Hildebrandt, will my wrestling ability to Elaine Carlin. Lyn Hyatt, will my position as head Cheerleader to Joyce Shinew. Frank Jaggers, will my perfect attendance to Leonard Miller. Jerry Matheny, will my ability to steer clear of the Acid Test to anyone less fortunate. Dorothy Kurtz, will my position as one of the two girls on the Varsity Basketball team to anyone with enough nerve to show up for practice. Marie Nofziger, will my musical ability to anybody who wants it. Russel Myers, will all of my woman troubles through High School to Jim Grube. Shelba Nofziger, will my quietness to Alva Roth. Peggy Osborn, will my bashfulness to Mate Clark. Don Patten, will my ability to go with girls to Fred Eicher. Shirley Patten, will my position as Co-Editor of the Annual to Denver Fitzenrider. Rosebud Pierce, will my position as boss in Cafeteria to anyone who can get along with Bessie. Ronald Replogle, will my cowboy shirt, hat, botts, and fiddle to Zeke Shinners. Wayne Robertson, will my stock car and ability to drive it to Leroy Flory. Willa Dean Rowan, will my long black hair to Caroline Stantz. Karen Sadler, will my ability to hit telephone poles while in Driver's Education to Mr. Schuster. Millard Schlosser, will my good behavior in school to Jim Huffman. Charles Schultz, will my knowledge and ability to fish and play basketball to Bill Follas. Janet Shinew, will my good fortune in achieving a perfect attendance record for nine years to all who attend Stryker Public Schools. Elaine Short, will my pesition as accompanist to the Sextet to Mary Little. Tom Short, will my '36 Chevy Coupe to anyone who can push it down the street. Ivyl Stamm, will my shortness to Jim Goebel. ' Richard Stuckey, will my nickname Heavy to Arden Stuckey. Nancy Tretter, will to the 7th grade class my ability to stay in my seat during 2nd period study hall. In September of 1943, the graduating class of 1955 was assembling in the first grade, twenty-seven scrubbed and shinning faces greeted Miss Short, the teacher who was to start the moulding process of our character, Gene Bolles, Dean Clark, Peggy Clark, Willis Chappius, Betty Colon, Rosetta Fisher, Freddy Grisier, Geraldine Graber, Ruthanna Hildebrandt, Lyn Hyatt, Doro- thy Kurtz, Bonny Knapp, Teddy Nolan, Paul Nafziger, V lba Nofziger, Marie Nofziger, Peggy Osbom, Millard Schlosser, Janet Shinew, Elaine Short, Tom Short, Glen Short, Ivyl, , Marjorie Stantz, Richard Stuckey, Donna Thiel, and Stanley Werder, Out of these twenty-seven starting, eighteen remaine receive diplomas. Later, Nancy Tretter and Shirley Brown joined our class. N ' Miss Short pushed us on to Miss Vernier, and second grade in hopes that Miss Vernier could further our moulding process, Betty Colon, Glen Short and Freddy Grisier moved away, Norma Fleming, Dorsey Matheny, Sammy Yearling, 'Walter Fergu- son and LeRoy Flory, joined our class, Dorsey eamed his Chatterbox nickname, this year. Miss Vernier passed us on to the third grade, where Mrs, Brown greeted us, This grade found us with first Inldings of Ro- mance, Teddy Nolan, everyones beau, chased the girls and kissed them, Later, Teddy withdrew to go to Oklahoma, Bea- trice Cooley and Bonnie Connally entered our class. Beatrice Cooley and Sammy Yearling withdrew at the end of the year, After vacation, back to school we went, greeted open arms by Mrs, Julliard, our fourth grade teacher. This year geog- raphy was an interesting subject to most of us, Richard Sherman and Richard Frank joined our class, Betty Colon returned from Alvorton, After two semesters of fourth grade work she decided to pass us on to be fifth graders, We all got summer spirit, then retumed back to school to the fifth grade, where we were now upstairs, with our first man teacher, Mr, Brillhart, That year, we are sure Mr, Brillhart thought of holding classes in the Bellroom, This year Roger and Franklin Iaggers, Lynn Steenson, Eva Esquibel and Jakie Lorentz joined our class, Donna Thiel withdrew, Mr, Brillhart sent us on to the sixth grade, Our journey's come to an end, we were now the Kings and Queens of grade school, Mrs, Stamm QMrs, Lee nowj helped us to make our last memories, happy ones of grade school. Nancy Nafziger, Stephani Pidbirny, and Russel Myers were welcomed by our class, Mrs, Stamm, turned us out to a new experience of high school days, How exciting it was to have lockers and change classes I'm sure the rest of the grades were amused by our reactions, actions and the newness of it to all of us, Our new student this year was Norma Deepe, Class officers were, President-Peggy Clark, Vice President-Richard Frank, Secretary-Lynn Steenson. Treasurer-Dean Clark, Reporter-Norma Deepe, Our class sponsor Mrs. Sharrock. In the eighth grade, we were just seventh graders with the newness worn off, This year Mr. Boehme and Mr, Rex furthered our moulding process greatly and Mr, McQuillin helped by the detention, Ronnie Reploge joined s from West Unity and Bonnie Connally withdrew, Mr, Shuster our class sponsor, We had this year President-Peggy Clark, Vice President-Norma Deepe, Sec- retary-Lynn Steenson, Treasurer-Lyn Hyatt, Reporter-Peggy Osbom as our class officers, On our retum we were Freshmen, This year our class was very happy to welcome Elaine Braeckeveldt, June Brown, Roger Brown, Annie Burdine, Marie Eis, Richard Fockler, Evelyn Francis, Leann Grogg, Shirley Patten, Rosebud Pierce, Wayne Robert- son, Charles Schultz, Barbara Wahlers and Larry Welker, Class officers were President-Tom Short, Vice President-Peggy Clark, Secretary-Shirley Patten, Treasurer-Elaine Short, Reporter-Ronald Replogle, Our class sponsors Mr, Goetter and Mr. Voltz. Roger Brown, Lynn Steenson, and Eva Esquibel left our class and Karen Sadler entered, The Sophomore class was so large that the Study Hall was our home room, We elected this year as class officers President- Larry Welker, Vice President-Tom Short, Secretary-Elaine Short, Treasurer-Dean Clark, Reporter-Ivyl Stamm, We decided to earn money by having skating parties, Class this year had as sponsors Miss LaRue and Miss Miller, Norma Deepe, Marie Eis, Roger Jaggers, and Jakie lnrentz withdrew, but we welcomed Don Patten, This year our class was saddened by the sudden death of a classmate, Shirley Brown, January 29, 1953, Juniors we were now, Miss Dunbar and Miss Easterday our class advisors. Class officers President-Tom Short, Vice President- Peggy Clark, Secretary-Elaine Short, Treasurer-Dean Clark, Reporter-June Brown, Candy Manager-Shirley Patten, Richard Fockler, Nancy Nafziger, and Marjorie Stantz withdrew, The highlights this year were Candy Sales, Magazine Sales, Skating Parties, and Junior-Senior Banquet and Dance, The end of our moulding process came in 1955, we were Seniors now, all forty of us, then Rosetta Fisher and Annie Burdine withdrew from the class, leaving thirty-eight, This year Juanita Fetter entered, The officers this year were Tom Short-President, Dean Clark-Vice President, Elaine Short-Secretary, Shirley Patten-Treasurer, Peggy Osbom-Reporter, The highlights this year were Senior Play, Junior-Senior Banquet and Dance, Senior Trip, Alumni Banquet, Baccalaureate and Commencement, Mrs, Robinett and Mr, Follas were our advisors, Mrs, Kolar took Mrs, Robinett's place because She left due I0 i1lrl6SS. We all hoped that our moulding process was not in vain, We all hoped that we were the kind of youth to make our parenm, teachers, friends, and neighbors proud, We left Stryker High School: we left it to find our way in the world, but we left it with fond memories and with hopes for the other students who would graduate from Stryker High School, Signed Dorothy Kurtz IB
