CLASS PROPHECY One night after I fell asleep, this dream came to my mind, 1, Ivyl Stamm, was sailing in a submarine widi Peggy Osbom and landed in the sunken city of Atlantis, That is the city which lies under the Atlantic Ocean, We started to walk down the street when all of a sudden a big band started to play, There were two of my classmates in it, Gene Bolles, playinghis trumpet, and Tom Short, playing the drums. It was quite noisy, They were playing for some bubble dancers, Two of them looked familiar, so I asked their names, I found out that they had gone to school with me and were in the same class, Elaine Braeckeveldt and Rosebud Pierce were the only two we knew, After their act was over, we went on farther down the street, We noticed a big red and white pole, then looked inside and saw Dean Clark cutting hair, He had established his own barber shop, We walked inside and heard a recording of the new Homer and Jethro act, which was Richard Frank and Dean Clark. Dean was so interested in the song that he didn't notice how he was cuting Richard Stuckey's hair, After we were through visiting there, we went a little further. We heard 3 big 018361 which startled us so much that we had to stop and look around, There was Larry Welker, galloping down the street on his seahorse, Trigger, He had taken Roy Roger's place on the elecuoscope, fln other words, a T,V,J He stopped and talked to us a while, then took us for a ride on his seahorse. First we went to his house to get two other horses for Peg and I to ride, Then we went to the hospital where he was to have a physical, Larry told us that he would show us around town if we wanted him to, When we got to the hospital, the Director of Nurses, Peggy Clark, saw us and called to us, We went in and she told us one of the patients was Don Pat- ten, He had hurt his ankle while running ln a track meet, You should have seen him, His leg was hung in mid-air by a pulley, He really looked a sight, We talked to him for a while and then he told us all about it, We didn't stay very long because Larry was finished, He then invited us to have lunch with him, After lunch, we decided to go to the Hot-Rod races, The two main drivers were Wayne Robertson and Frank Jaggers, We talked to them after the race, which neither of them had won, and after a while they told us that they always went to Myers Service Station when they wanted to get some work done on their cars and couldn't do it them- selves, We thought that the name sounded familiar so we asked what his first name was, They told us that it was Russel and that he had started a chain of gas stations and was really making good on them, It really looked like he was doing good because everything was in the push-button form, We wanted to talk to him but didn 't see him around, We soon leamed that he had just hired some new secretaries and was showing them how and where the things were, The secretaries were Betty Colon, who did the typing, and Nancy Tretter, who did the shorthand, Russ told us that they were the best they could get and he was satisfied with their work, It looked like they had an awful lot of work to do, I guess Russ had just hired them only a few days ago and had left a lot of work for them to do, We talked to Betty and Nancy for a while then, They told us that they had been to Mars and Pluto and were now working to try and get enough money to go to the rest of the planets, They especially wanted to go to the planet of Jupiter, Larry was starting to get impatient and wanted to show us a few more places before we had to leave him, We decided to walk for a change and give our horses a rest, We hadn't gone very far when we saw some people sitting out on the lawn painting and drawing, pictures of the big beautiful church, The pastor was none other than Dorsey Matheny, We didn 't see him, but we saw his name on the ulletin board out in front, A couple of the artists were Dorothy Kurtz and Shirley Patten, We didn't have time to stop and talk so we went on again, On the comer was somebody yelling EXTRA! EXTRA! READ ALL ABOUT IT! We wondered what he was yelling about. So we walked up beside him and it was Richard Stuckey, He told us that there was complete details in this issue of the paper about June Brown and Charles Schultz's wedding, We remembered both of them, so of course we bought a paper to find out where they had worked and what they were doing, They were going to go on their honeymoon to Neptune, Larry said that Chuck and he used to play baseball together in High School, We read on a little farther and found out that Elaine Short had played the organ for them , She was also one of our classmates, We were in a hurry to visit as many as possible so we went on until we came to the school house, We wanted to go in and see if the school resembled ours so that is what we did, There were Janet Shinew and Norma Fleming, Janet had been teaching the fifth grade and Norma the sixth, They both had been teaching since they got out of college, Janet said that they en- joyed their classes and wou1dn't trade them for anything, School had already been dismissed for the day, By that time we were getting quite hungry so Larry said that he would take us to Nofziger's Dairy Bar, owned by Shelba Nofziger, One of the waitresses was none other than Juanita Fetter, We remembered both of them so we talked to them for a while after our meal was over, They told us that they had come here right after their graduation with some of the rest of the people in our class, We told them who all we had already seen and what they were doing, They had known where most of them were before we even told them, It was about 9 00 P, M, when we left the Dairy Bar to go to the hotel where we were to spend the night, Larry's house wasn't big enough to ac- commodate guests, so we had to stay there, There happened to be a radio station in this hotel also and who do you suppose the owner was? We were so surprised to see him, Millard Schlosser, that we fainted, After we came to, he told us that he had been the hotel owner and main radio announcer for ten years, He had the only hotel in that city, so his business was quite good, One of the disc jockeys, Karen Sadler, now had her own show, Her sponsor was SING-SUNG , a liquid that guaranteed your hair not to get gray, Their slogan was STAY YOUNG WITH SING-SONG, Neither of us had any signs of gray hair so we didn't try it to see if it worked, One of the records that she was playing was by the Mar-Ev Sisters, She told us that that was the name given to Marie Nofziger and Evelyn Francis, They were now big recording artists in the Hillbilly Heaven, We thought that our classmates were really going places, After our long day's journey and big sight-seeing trip, we were so tired we were enhausted, - The next moming we awoke bright and early, We planned out the day to see what all we could for so little tlrne, Larry was going to be busy that day so we had to go by ourselves, First we wanted to go to a Dress Shop and also the town's newspaper office, We wanted everyone to know that we were vising our old classmates, When we got to the store, we saw a bunch of women all a- round ln a huddle, We thought that there might be a sale so we went over to see what is was, Before we got there, the clerk was making his way out of there, He was crawling on his hands and knees, He got up and there was Ronnie Replogle, We were so sur- prised to see that he was still alive that we forgot to get our pie. We had to have some remembrance of our visit there so we wanted to get a real expensive dress, We went to W!lla 's Dress Shop , That was the most expensive place in town, Willa Rowan happened to be the owner, We remembered her quite well as she used to tease us in our Senior Home-Room class, She told us that her models were some of our old classmates also, The first one that came out was Geraldine Graber, Next was Leann Grogg, Lyn Hyatt, and Barbara Wahlers, After they saw and recognized us, we talk- ed to them a long time, Leann was the only one married, She now had twin boys, Their names were Johnny and Ronny, At the newspaper office we saw Ruthanna Hildebrandt, She was co-editor of the paper, She was working on a big advertise- ment that had just been sent in, lt was for the Chappius Farm Supply, Ruthanna told us that Willis had taken over his father's busi- ness for him, There were quite a few farmers in that area so he was making a lot of money, I really thought that I had a nlce dream because I got to see all my classmates again,
