BABY PICHIRIS IIIASS HISHIRY In September 1937 we started to school We were greeted by Mrs Julllard who started us on our way to a bxg event 1n our l1fe She taught us the three R s and that ended our flrst unforgettable year The next year we went across the hall to the second grade room occup1ed by M1ss Ven1er who taught us to wr1te w1th 1nk Most of us got lnk on ourselves mstead of the paper We went on to the th1rd grade w1th M1ss Rmngenberg as our teacher To make thls abxgger and better group Dor1s Mae Colon came 1nto the fold ln 1940 we were welcomed 1nto the fourth grade by M1ss Sprmg She taught us as much as she could We went on to the f1fth grade where M1ss W1ll1s came to teach us That year Alden Hlldebrandt came 1nto our grade We felt that we were growlng up We f1nally got to our last grade the s1xth where Mr Warren was our teacher Mrs Farber taught us the last part of the year We came mto the new bu1ld1ng th1s year and our sponsor was Mr Warren We were all glad to have a new pupll Gerald Short come 1nto our grade We got mlxed up because of the d1fferent rooms we went to In the elght grade we had M1ss Rethmel as our sponsor Our new students were Herbert Culbertson D1ck Werder and Leon Mmller Dor1s Mae Colon left us to spend two and one half years at Alvordton School We recewed our e1ghth grade d1plomas and were sent on to h1gh school In the Freshman year we were sponsored by M1ss Sxlva Our class was enlarged by havmg Al1ce Huffman Barbara Buehrer .Tun1or Lorentz and Eldred Buehrer come 1nto our grade Our class off1cers for the year were Pres1dent Charles Frost V1ce Pres1dent Leon Mxller Secretary and Treasurer Thelma Renaud We all enjoyed the 1n1t1at1on very much Mr Rudd was our sponsor 1n the Sophomore Class We had three new students that year wh1ch were Walter Green Eugene Frank and Robert Hancock Our class offlcers chosen were Pres1dent Charles Frost V1ce Pres1dent Delores S1ne Secretary and Treasurer Thelma Renaud We went to our Jumor year and had Mr Rudd for our sponsor aga1n New members of the class were James Short and Dor1s Colon Thrs year we sold candy atnoons and at basket ball games We enjoyed putt1ng on the Junmor and Senlor Prom for the Sen1ors and everyone seemed to have a good t1me Our class off1cers as chosen were Pres1dent Charles Frost V1cePres1dent Leon Mrller Secretary Thelma Renaud Treasurer Eugene Frank Reporter Delores S1ne We all worked hard at puttmg on the Jumor Play Then came our Senmor year w1th Mr Boehme as our sponsor Our class offmcers elected were Pres1dent Charles Frost V1ce Pres1dent Bob Hancock Secretary Delores S1ne Treasurer Eugene Frank Reporter Leon Mlller We had fun 1n1t1at1ng the Freshman Class We had our Semor plctures taken Some of our 1mportant days and nmghts were the Senmor Play Semor Nlght Sen1or Tr1p Junlor Senlor Banquet Baccalaureate Commencement and Alumm Banquet We all w1sh to thank Mr Boehme for what he has done for our class After th1s year we w1ll be remembered only as the Class of 49 Stryker School may forget us but we w1ll never forget It S1gned Nancy Carlm Dorothy Stambaugh Clolce Barnum Walter Green 13 . . . . . , , . MASS PRUPHHIY After thlnklng of what to Wflte 1n the class prophecy I was off to sleep When I awoke I was 1n a strange place I looked around and there I was mn the Stryker Hosp1tal I plcked up the Esqu1re magazme and found that Eugene Frank was the new ed1tor Carol Stamm the doctor s secretary came and told me that the doctor was ready to see me I went 1nto the off1ceand whom do you th1nkI saw? None other than Delores S1ne as the doctor Ehzabeth Ju1llard was her ass1stant Delores told me that all I needed was a rest Carol told me that Sarah Jean Baltosser had a da1ry farm up 1n New York State so I declded that I would go there to spend my vacat1on I started down the corr1dor and saw Herbert Culbertson and Robert Hancock carry1ng a stretcher and R1chard Werder was 1n lt It seemed that he and h1s new boss Barbara Buehrer who IS the owner of the Lonely Hearts Club 1n Evansport Oh1o got 1nto a l1ttle argument F1nally I reached the out s1de of the hosp1tal and I saw J1m Short walk1ng back and forth I asked h1m what he was so nervous about and I found out that he was the father of tw1n boys He also told me that Alden H1ldebrant was the ambulance dr1ver for the I-Iosp1tal The next day I went to the Short s A1rport Gerald Short bemg the owner and I started for New York I got myself settled and then I heard some mus1c I looked up and lt was the Short s orchestra d1rected by Donavon Short and the vocahsts were Al1ce Huffman and Robert Schlosser After the song Ahce and I chatted a b1t and I learned that Clo1ce Barnum was the p1lot of the plane I was on I also learned that Arlene Stuckey was afamous pa1nter tour1ng Europe Nancy Carhn was a chorus g1rl for some Broadway play I thenventured to the smok1ng lounge and saw Walter Green the new congressman He 1nformed me that he d1dn t have to be 1n Wash1ngton all the t1me but he st1ll got pa1d Remember1ng the school days I thought he had made a good ChO1Ce Walter told me that Dorothy Stambaugh came to h1m the other day and wanted a b1ll passed so she could marry more than one husband It seems that she can t make up her m1nd F1nally we reached New Yorkand I ha1led a tax1 the dr1ver of wh1ch was Jun1or Lorentz and went to see Sarah Jean Sarah Jean and I started to talk about our other class members She sa1d that Thelma Renaud was marr1ed and was try1ng to teach her two year old daughter to play the p1ano Letty Jean Castor was coach of the Un1vers1ty of IvI1ch1gan wh11e her husband was the star football player Mary was des1gn1ng off the shoulder sh1rts for men After eat1ng a del1c1ous meal wh1ch was prepared by Dons Colon Sarah s cook we dec1ded to go and see Charles Frost s telev1s1on outf1t I ve oeen told that he IS try1ng to xnvent a telev1s1on Just for the cows so they w1ll g1Ve more m1lk What do you th1nk Sarah 1S pay1ng hmm for?
