Ben Bruno shoots one-handed jump shot. Tom Perkins shoots another for the Wildcats. S.H.S. 52 CIRARD 39 Struthers journeyed to Girard where they scalped the lndians 52-39. The Wildcats played a good all- around game. Gentile did a good job on the boards and also pumped in 13 points. Sicafuse also had 13 markers. However, Tom Perkins was high scorer as he bombarded the hoops for 15 points. S.H.S. 35 BOARDMAN 36 Playing at home once more Struthers lost a thriller to Boardman 36-35. This was truly the outstanding game ol the year as far as excitement was concerned. Struthers held a 21-20 lead at the half, but fell behind and with time out and four seconds remaining, Struthers was losing by 1 point. As play commenced Tom Per- kins shot from -10 feet out, but the ball rolled off the hoop. Sicafuse kept Struthers in the game with 17 points. S.H.S. 59 CAMPBELL MEMORIAL 73 At the Campbell gym the Wildcats absorbed their fourth Steel Valley loss 73-59. Struthers started out badly but rallied to pull within 3 points at the outset of the final period. Campbell, however, pulled away in the final quarter. Perkins and Bruno put in 19 and 18 points, respectively, for the Cats. S.H.S. 58 FITCH 64 Playing at home Struthers fell victim to the Fitch Falcons 64-58. The game was tied several times in the early moments, but Fitch pulled away to a comfortable halftime lead. Early in the fourth quarter Fitch held a commanding 61-39 lead, but then the Wildcats got hot and outscored Fitch 19-3 in the closing minutes. Tom Perkins rimmed 22. S.H.S. 31 NILES 46 The Wildcats were downed by the Niles Red Dragons 46-31. Struthers fell behind at the outset 9-1 and never recovered. Joe Budzik had 7 points. S.H.S. 49 HUBBARD 41 ln their next game the Wildcats trimmed the visiting Hubbard Eagles 49-41. The first half saw neither team gain an advantage. Struthers came in strong in the second half to cop the fray. Ben Bruno meshed 22 for the Cats. S.H.S. 82 GIRARD 45 Eleven players hit the scoring column in leading the Wildcats to a smashing 82-45 triumph over Girard. Struthers attained a convincing victory leading 43-17 at halftime. Perkins, Watt, and Bruno had 22, 13, and 12 points, respectively. S.H.S. 55 BOARDNIAN 41 Playing great basketball the Wildcats trounced Board- man 55-41. Struthers took the lead early in the second quarter and held throughout the game. Ben Bruno had 17 markers for the Wildcats. S.H.S. 39 CAMPBELL MEMORIAL 43 Playing their last regular season game the Wildcats lost out in a grueling duel with their rivals from Campbell 43-39. Campbell led at halftime 20-16 and started to pull away, but the Wildcats caught fire and almost tied the winners. Pudgie:' Kosco scorched the mesh for 20 points.

George Hall and Dick Cannon in photo finighl One of the high spots of the school year was the First Annual Sports Assembly sponsored by the Varsity-S Club. Members of the boys' gym classes and the Freshman Track Team partici- pated. When points were totaled at the end of the afternoon, the seniors and freshmen were tied with 42 points each. The juniors had 28 points and the sophomores had 5. Awards were presented after the track meet in an assembly featuring Reverend Bob Richards, Olympic pole vaulter. George Hall was presented a trophy for being the most valuable competitor, with 121A3 points. Before Reverend Richards concluded the assembly with an inspiring address, Ben Bruno, Varsity-S president, presented him a plaque which made him an honorary member of the club.
