East Liverpool scored first hut from then it was all Struthers'. Galloping Jerry Lucas slammed over from the eight. electrified the crowd with a 95-yard touch- down jaunt. and raced 48 yards for another score to conclude his stellar performance. Tom Mclntire rammed over from the three and scored again in a -1-23-yard pass play from a hrilliant field general and faker in Ben Bruno. Hartzell was perfect with five conversions. S.H.S. 20 STEUBENVILLE 14- Struthers gained its sixth straight victory hy jolting Steuhenvilleis Big Red aggregation 30-14 in a thrill packed pigskin struggle. The Big Red scored first, marching 81 yards in 20 plays. Tom Mclntire gal- loped 54- yards for a score and set up another hy hauling in a 30-yard pass. Gentile hucked over from the one-yard line. Steubenville came hack to score on a 65-yard TIJ dash and converted to put them- selves in the lead at halftime 13-1-l. ln the fourth quarter defensive halfhack Frank Ghako intercepted a Big lied pass and went 25 yards for the deciding tally. S.H.S. 47 WILSON 6 The Vlfildcats scored a smashing victory over Wilsori, with Gentile's leading the TD parade with two touch- downs. Gentile's score came on sensational gallops 82 and 56 yards. Lucas tallied in a 63-yard rung Mc- lntire hit paydirt on a 15-yard inside reverseg Paris scored when he caught a 31-y ard Bruno heave at the goal line and Ronny Barher took a roll-out pass from Kosco to zip 25 yards for the Gals' final marker. S.H.S. 53 BUARDNIAN 6 Struthers romped over the visiting Boardman Spar- tans 53-6. Ben Bruno smashed over from the two-yard line for the first Wildcat score. Gentile smashed 16 yards through center for a score and spurted up the middle for another. Lucas scored on an eight-yard touchdown scamper. The Wildcats, scoring barrage continued as Mclntire cracked over from the three- yard lineg Bruno dove over from the oneg fleet-footed Jerry Lucas whizzed 60 yards on a beautifully executed reverse playg and to round out the scoring, Bruno scored from seven yards out. Hartzell kicked five placements. S.H.S. 6 CAMPBELL 27 The Wildcats went down to their first defeat 27-6 at the hands of a quick charging Memorial Eleven. Memorial enjoyed a 27-O lead in the fourth quarter by scoring once in each of the periods. Struthers, only score came late in the game with Nick Gentile bulling over from the nine-yard line. SHS. 58 HUBBARD 19 ln their season's final. the Struthers Wild- cats grounded the Hubbard Eagles 58-19. Nick Gentile had four touchdowns on runs of one. ten. and five yards. Lucas went 61 yards for his first score and crashed over tackle for his second tally. Other players who tallied were Brabrant, Perry. and Kosco. Hart- zell kicked three extra points to round out the scoring. Due to the flu epidemic. Niles was unahle to play Struthers. In their place. the game with Steubenville was scheduled. 37

S.H.S. 48 WARREN ST. MARY'S 0 The seasonis opener saw the visiting Struthers Wild- cats run rough-shod over Warren St. Mary's 43-0. Leading the Wildcats' scoring parade was Jerry Lucas with three markers, one on a 16-yard scarnper. ,lim Paris hit paydirt twice on passes covering 49 and 19 yards. Pudge7' Kosco intercepted a pass and ran for a touchdown and Nick Gentile plunged over for still another score, Hartzell converted six times out of seven attempts. S.H.S. 52 RAYEN O ln their home opener the Wildcats looked very pow- erful in trouncing Rayen 50-0. The Wildcats scored in every stanza which included 18 points in the final quarter. Nick Gentile and Jerry Lucas led the Struthers scoring spree hy nahbing three TD7s apiece. Benny Bruno, quarterhacking brilliantly, pitched two touch- down passes to Lucas, covering 27 and 50 yards re- spectively. Tom Mclntire also hit paydirt on a third period plunge and Rich Hartzell kicked four extra points. 36 S.H.S. 35 GIRARD O This gridiron tussle saw Struthers scalp the visit- ing Girard Hi Indians 35-0. Jerry Lucas led the Cats with three six-points. Struthers scored first when Lucas plunged over in the first quarter and Hartzell converted. Lucas scored twice more in the second stanza when he slammed over from the 13-yard line and tallied from up close. Hartzell converted both times, putting Struth- ers in front 21-0 at halftime. Nick Gentile's smashing line bricks sparked a third-quarter drive which ended with Njck's ramming over from the two-yard line. Hartzell booted the extra point. The Cats, final score came in the fourth quarter when Tom Mclntire slashed over from the six. with Hartzell converting five. S.H.S. 48 FITCH 21 The Wildcats journeyed to Fitch and they kept their high scoring grid machine in high gear hy walloping the Falcons 48-21. The fleet-footed halfhack scored twice in the first quarter on 25 and 18 yard jaunts and rambled for two more in the second period in scampers of 17 and 30 yards. Fitch came hack with three TD's in the third and fourth quarter, hut Nick Gentile scored three times himself. He steam-rolled his way for a 47-yard score in the third quarter and smashed over from the 10-yard line and the one-yard line in the final stanza. Hartzell was successful in six out of seven extra point tries. S.H.S. 35 EAST LIVERPOOL 12 Traveling to East Liverpool, the Wilclcats outmanned the Potters to win their fifth straight game 34-12. Jerry Lucas and Tom Nlclntire chalked up three and two touchdowns respectively.
