Z1 The underclassmen are the students in which the future of our school depends. Next' fall the present iunior class, will be seniors and will provide the leadership in our maior school activities. They will realize, as we do now, that school is the best years of our lives. The sophomores, are the ones, who really are beginning to appreciate school and its activities. They realize now how much studying you need to do for school. Studying now, the sophomores can always say life is easier when one studies, then when one loafs. The freshman having iust decided what course to take are still a little puzzled about school. They appreciate the understanding of the upperclassmen and are getting good advice from our teachers. The grade schools have sent us some iunior high students who are beginning to understand why Struthers High has schedules, class-changing, different teachers, monitors, and too many confused rooms. All of the underclassmen of Struthers High look up to the seniors and appreciate friendliness. We have selected Most Courteous Seniors' and pictured them on the opposite page. 44

Well, really we were only eighth graders, but we felt that we had arrived in the world. lt took us quite a while to adiust to the changing of classes and going to the different floors, but we found that is was iust another step in our stage of growing-up.' We played records in the old gym for our class dance. For many of us, it was our first real dance and it will long be remembered. We also had a skating party at Kelley's Park and asked Mr. Repasky to be our sponsor for the evening. True, we might have arrived home that night with some newly acquired bumps, but we all loved every minute of it. Then, came the big day when we received our title as freshmen. As the saying goes, we may have been - . a little 'green , but we knew a little more than we did the year before. As our class officers, we elected Don Dixon, president, Barbara Douglas, vice-president, and Beverly Douglas, secretary-treasurer. We'll all remember Miss McQuilkin as our first class sponsor. We held our freshman class dance which was not too well attended, but was still a high-light of our high school days. Toward the end of the year, we gave a skating party at Kelly's Park. The customary class picnic took place in Mill Creek Park as our last activ- ity as freshmen. Although we have been around for two years, we can still remember our excitement of being paged as sophomores, We were no longer the subject of teasing, but now we ioined in the teasing of the freshmen ourselves. As our class president, we again elected Don Dixon, with Mickey Wilkos and Marlene Loyen to assist him. We held our first really successful dance, called the Hobo Hobble. The reason for the -1-4 success was that everyone was donned up in his or her favorite attire of blue jeans and flannel shirts. We ended our year with a skating party and a class picnic. ln our iunior year we really began to get the ball rolling. During the football season, we loyally sold programs to add to our budget for the Junior-Senior Prom. The fact that we had supported and planned such a memorable prom, gave us all the feeling of deep satisfaction of a iobwell-done. For the third time, we elected Don Dixon as our class president. Barbara Douglas was our vice- president with Marlene Loyen our secretary-treasurer. Mrs. Stevens and Mr. Mackin were our class sponsors. They added that extra touch to a year which was already pleasant memories. As our class dance we had Cupid's Swing , which was a '.' . huge success. But now, we have reached the top of the long flight of steps. Each step in succession has been leading to our big moment as seniors. The first Homecoming Queen was crowned during our senior year. Une of our own senior girls was chosen, you all know her well, Barbara Douglas. We worked at the concession during the football season for our senior banquet. This year, we chose Lou Jannetto as president, Alice Eck vice-president, and Ann Pavlicko secretary-treasurer. Miss O'Neill and Mr. Hague were our sponsors, who did everything in their power to make this our best year. Our class dance Corn Husk Capers was another huge success. We attended the Ice Follies as another big event of our senior year. We felt very honored to walk down the assmebly aisles in our white blouses. This, we will always remember.
