13:-5'-' Entre Baseball School Football basketball and track have sort of taken over but base ball has become a big subject through the halls of Struthers High Team Grows At first there was just a small pick up team with everx man wear mg his own type of uniform Then came the Mahoning Vallev Class A Baseball League George Repasky stepped in and molded a superb team into shape and entered the league of high school teams The league consist ed of the various teams through the valley Struthers came out on top in the inaugural season with a brilliant record of eleven wins and two losses Chaney Rates After that first successful season graduation took a large toll and another team had to be presented Coach Repasky stepped up and did it again The 49 season was also successful but not good enough This time Chaney came out on top but not until Struthe rs had put up a tough battle Players Star During the 49 season Struthers couldn t get those no hitters but settled for a couple of one hitters by Bill Hill and Bob Raybuck Leading the hitters was Bernie Skvarka with a 375 average and little Pete Serich batting out a resounding average of over .400. Pete rode the bench the first of the season, but soon got that necessary punch for those needed runs Wildcats Proze Tough Competition With graduation stepping in again, Repasky was again hit hard. But with such prospects as Boston Wilson, Eddie Brauer, RaySwans1ger, Pat Naples, Tony DeGeorge, Sam Banozic, and Pete Sertch, another champion ship team should be ln store for all. 87 I K JY - -rifi '. . 5 'Tift x .. s ,SP Baseball is beginning to come into the limelight at Struthers High - 1 I 1 ' . . , ' ' . . 2 .
