The Mo- unties began their season returning nine starters leaving many vacancies to be filled. After many weeks of hard practice, the Mounties earned a 7- 3-l record, led by co-captains Rod Baechtold and Bill Hochrine. This record was the third best in our high school's history. Coach Ross said that the i975 Mounties were the hardest hitting team he coached at Stroudsburg. Thanksgiving Day was a time for mixed emotions, bringing sorrow for not winning and joy for not being defeated. The Mounties were well represented on all- star teams placing three players on the All Le- ague first team selection including Mickey Stone, Tony Posten, and Mark Fetherman. The Mounties also had three players selected to the Lehigh Valley All-Star first team including Tony Posten, Rod Bae- chtold, and Mark Fetherman. 'UO fn Coaches-B. Stout, F. Ross, R. Avino, B. Schwartz, Knauf, Sheeley, Mahoney, lmbt, Woolever, Schmidt, Carden Girls Tennis at Stroudsburg is still a relatively new sport. This was only its second year. The team started out with a new coach and five returning players. Out of the five, four were se- niors, Kathy lmbt, Cindy Knauf, jenny Sheeley, and Denise Woolever. The team record is as follows. The team ended the season with a record of l2-lO overall and were in contention for the Centennial League crown up until the final weeks. The l2-lO record included the first place finish in the Pleasant Valley tournament with two come-fronrbehind victories. Through hard work and determination, the S.H.S. basketball team had one of the most. successful seasons in the past few years. Another aspect of their success is that a team with only two seniors, co-captains Tim Freeman and Tim Snyder, should be very good in years to Come, and 34 '5 Qi Wert, Stanley, Adelmann. This is also the first time that the girls have gone to District Competition. The team will feel a great lose next year with seven seniors graduating this year. The only loss of the season was against Pen Argyl by a score of 83.l6 to 83.0. ln the first year of league compet- ition, the team was co-champions of the Northeastern Girls Gymnastics League. Three girls placed in Districts which gave them the opportunity to advance to regional competition, held in Lancaster. Tina Pysher, Meg DeSchriver, and Marcia Arbott all performed well at Regionals, and Marcia and Meg advanced to States held at Shippensburg State College.
