GIRLS' ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION Stronghurst G A A 1S an affiliated member of the Illinois League of High School Girls' Athletic ASqOC18t10nS The purpose of the organi z tion is +o stimulate interest in g1r1s' athletics and gymnastics and to ITIQRLJ1 e and promote ideals of health and sportsmanship ch girl as she becomes a member makes this pledge WI promise to uphold the ideals of the Girls' Athletic Association by promoting interest in the out of doors by living so that I may be healthy and strong by making good sportsmanship a constan factor in my conduct U G A A OFFICERS 1940 AND 1941 President Barbara Links Vice President Mary Lou McMillan Recorder Betty Iellor Reporter Mary Ann Corley Advisor Mary K Wischmeier These officers in addition to the class representatives make up the G A A board he class representatives are Betty Bowen Bernadine Porter Lola Stamp Erma Peterson Freshman Sophomore Junior Senlor Play days are held each spring and fall, at which girls from sev er l schools engoy a day playing together This year we were not able to attend the fall play day however e1ght girls attended the spring play d y at Kirkwood In September the G A A started the year with a hike and weiner roast to which all the high school girls were invited Ar informal and formal initiation was held in December for new members. Following the formal initiation all members participated in a Christmas party. In March the G. A. A. entertained thirty girls from Media and Biggsville, at the regular monthly program and social party. Other activities included an all school party, a date party, and at the close of the school year, an informal banquet.
