ARTHUR WEIBEL On Friday, December 9, 1949, the Pennsylvania State Association of Health, Physical Education, and Recreation pre- sented its highest award to Arthur Weibel, 'swimming mentor, Civics teacher, and part-time consultant at Vincent. The lcey and certificate represent meri- torious service in the lield of physical education and health. Mr. Weibel is noted throughout the state for his champion swimming teams, and throughout the country for his ability as an outstanding coach. The team, this year, took the regional title, the district title for the fourth con- secutive time, and has had thirty-four straight wins, a great record, indeed. JK :- uxn,.n'::::x.i.uo H carl 3 ' ,i '53 cvtww VICTOR RAYMOND Victor Raymond, a 19-1 student, won the 1949 contest lor his prize winning essay entitled, Why Not Hire the Physically Handicapped. Each year, the Pennsylvania State Employment office has sponsored these contests to bring before the pubIic's eye the need for hiring those people with an inlirmity. By having these contests, it has helped to stimulate the necessity of employment for these people. TESSIE DUNDON Tessie, musical commedienne, won the tell-auditions at WICU, and the Millcreelt Kiwanis audition held at Strong Vincent. As a result, she was awarded a trip to New York City to appear on the Ted Mack Original Amateur Hour Show. Tessie has ap- peared on thirty benefit shows, four television programs, and in Life Maga- zine. l i 1 0
