7 This is the year 1944. We are in the third year of war. Our country, our homes, our schools are even dearer to us than they were before December 7, 1941. So the great patriotic love embodied in the American flag which symbolizes the courage and loyalty ofthe people is reflected in our own school banner. As the red of our national symbol indicates the courage promoted in youth, so the colors red and black typify the life of Strong Vincent High School. We hail scholastic achievement, athletic contests, social functions, and patriotic drives as the very glory of our Alma Mater. The Vincent colors proudly waving aloft are cherished by every alumnus. Long shall We love her, our Alma Nlater, and never let her glory die.', In this trend of thought lies the theme of our Spokesman. ,bckeamcm 'gmfwi Jean Schabacker Editor Jamgicliiiiiilrjreiizavzager Maryalice Armagost Russell Becker Josephine Cutri ACTIVITIES Vincent DeLuca Elmer Donor William Mclntyre Natalie Mosher Mary Margaret Roesch ,lean Russell Mary Shanor Martha Wright

With humility and deep affection, We dedicate this Nineteen Hundred and Forty-four Spokesman to 6 Because his fame is as far-Hung as the students and graduates of Strong Vincent High School, we had heard of Red long before we had ever seen him. His friendly gaiety and good sportsmanship have stamped an effective impression on every boy and girl with whom he has come in contact. He has won our affection through his willingness to give himself and his time to entertain and guide us. We who know him, love him, and loving him, we are proud to honor him with this dedication.
