THE MUSSUL UNSQUIT Selective cutting can still be practiced, but in a different way. Careful watch should be kept of all lots, and when the borer gets started in a piece it should be cut clean, leaving low stumps to insure a new crop Young, healthy lots should be left to reach maximum stumpage then cut clean and allowed to grow again We appeal to you mills, lumbermen, and farmers conserye our forests that we may haye a prosperous town and a creditable school' lt is our opinion that the eighth grade IS the hardest year for the axerage student Because the studies seem more difficult they require more attention than they normally get in high school Therefore we think that the high school should not include the eighth grade because, if these students are talcen suddenly from the sexenth grade and plunged into high school are they not going to find their studies doubly hard Ioolcing 'tt it from another point of yiew, the present arrangement talces yaluablc time away from the high school The extra classes needed for the teachers to administer to the eighth grade cut down the length and number of classes that should be deyoted to the high school ln addition, It also glYCS the teachers so much to do that they hardly haye a spare minute YVe hope to lmproye our educational system by haying a new school but couldnt we better it right now by eliminating the eighth grade from the high school, thus engaging one more teacher?
