As critical as the other three de- partments are, the Weapons Depart- ment is the reason we exist as a war- ship. Without our guns, torpedoes, and other related equipment, there would be no point in STRONG's getting under- way. Destroyers are built to fight--- that's the name of our game. By design much of STRONG's ar- senal and equipment is exposed to the elements which adds to the problems of on short notice. Tn' SN Boutet always keptthe liberty boat ready to go STG2 Slyh grab- , bing a couple of normal failure rates and maintenance. While the Bosun's struggle to keep the ship cosmetically 4.0, the Gunners Mates, Sonarmen, Torpedomen, and Fire Control Radar Technicians are continually maintaining their sophisti- cated equipment so that the ship will be ready to fight on short notice. The task is monumental, but these highly trained men insure that STRONG continues to function as a lethal war machine. i..... 6 . i' 'ffl RT'S. in ,. y 'wt f 1 3? X K. 'J SN Brumfield, hard at work.
